The sky is covered in broad, unstructured sweeps of pink and yellow cloud alternating with blue sky. Below, the plains are still dark with the notable exception of a large lake which reflects the sky, forming a bright patch in the darkness. Eucalypt silhouettes frame the picture across the top and to the left and below.

The sun has just cleared the distant ocean horizon, but has not climbed clear of a low cloud bank clinging to the horizon. Its golden light illuminates and backlights the tops of the clouds, the base remaining dark. The wooded plains running down to the shore are still dark, and the scene is framed left and right by the sharply silhouetted branches of two eucalypts.

Thanks, Sparty! The wonderful thing about sunrises is that you can never be sure exactly what’s going to happen (apart from the obvious 🤣), and it changes from moment to moment. The rays appeared, and disappeared in minutes…

The sun is just peeking over the horizon, throwing golden rays into the sky past almost luminescent low cumulus on the horizon. Higher in the sky a dark bank of cloud is glowing faintly in the coming light, and the scene is partly seen through the silhouette of a large eucalypt to the right of frame.
