i agree, my game has one-screen stages that save each time one is completed. but the later ones can be difficult to do in one go.

i would like players to be able to checkpoint whenever they like if the stage is too hard.

i'm currently trying to port my (definitely challenging) platform game to Steam, and i was thinking about adding an optional checkpoint system so players don't have to grind the whole stage when struggling.

i still don't know what the writers were going for in my workbench assembly manual:
