Restoration efforts require interdisciplinary approaches, and genomics can fill in gaps in understanding kelp biodiversity and resilience. As Dr. Jasmin Schuster puts it, “Restoration isn’t just about replacing what’s lost. We need to rebuild kelp forests that can thrive in tomorrow’s oceans.”

BMSC hosts many interdisciplinary courses offering #experientiallearning to students from science, to art, law, and more.

Orcas and dolphins caught on video by researchers collaborating to forage, hunt salmon | CBC News Researchers from Dalhousie University were trying to study how northern resident orcas find salmon to eat, but they ended up finding an unexpected symbiosis with another species — dolphins.
