(it's also very easy to get distracted by the unending problem of content moderation that's exploding during this early phase, rather than focusing on the basics of competing for usage with ego/endorphin boosts/slot machine payouts)
worried that bluesky is not thinking enough about the core problem of building a new social product, which is that skeets get fewer interactions than tweets, so there's less endorphin fuel to get the flywheel going
lucky that my kid was young enough to forget when we were living in shambles for a year
[the heavy sigh of an eng in a ux study where the person does the exact thing you knew would be confusing when you built it that way]
... but for whatever reason you built it that way anyway
I still don't understand how Bluesky has an iPhone app, an Android app, and a website by like a couple people.
What the fuck. We pay millions to 7 different companies for absolute dogshit.

"holy smokes that's a purple van with an exploded tire! the tire is smoking! it's shooting bits of rubber everywhere! that is extremely dangerous! they need to pull over!"
"it's maroon, dada"
(Especially when all these decisions/lists/etc are public, and people can see whoβs being affected by the most powerful group mods)
Empowering sub-communities to moderate for themselves, and then allowing people to opt into that community of moderation, seems useful here. AI for the βobviously over the lineβ stuff at the platform level, empowered communities for the nuance. Like the subreddit or block party model
Key with vouching model is back propagation of content enforcement outcomes up the vouching tree. So the vouchersβ vouchers get impacted by problematic behavior from their downstream vouches // @jay.bsky.team
Tweeting like a sociopath on here but I swear Iβm big time nice
(Again what a sociopath would tweet whoops)
What people mess up is murdering the people they want to murder, instead of the people they can murder.
when a good product eng does the simplest possible thing, they're really doing the simplest possible thing that will not result in an immediate subsequent feature request
thank you!
