New workflow: using Claude Code to audit open source deps before running them. Used to grep through codebases by hand looking for sketchy network calls, data exfil, etc. Now I get thorough reports in minutes. Example: gist.github.com/dizzyd/8b184...

My feelings exactly. This is profoundly unethical of the executive team in my view.

The older I get, the more I relish the feeling of shedding my day clothes for the comfy stuff, sliding into clean sheets and feeling my tired muscles rest into a mattress.

A most excellent, simple luxury.

Their closing message to Indiana: change your maps to artificially benefit the President's political party or 'roads will not be paved' as punishment.

They are openly saying this.

Who would want to live in a country that works like that?

A Battle with My Blood When I was diagnosed with leukemia, my first thought was that this couldn’t be happening to me, to my family.

This devastating piece describes what it’s like to die of blood cancer. It also describes what it feels like to do so while your cousin is Secretary of Health & Human Services & a ghoul. www.newyorker.com/culture/the-...

It's Trans Day of Remembrance

So remember Sylvia Rivera, and every person like her who spoke up despite ridicule and rejection. That is what queer liberation is built upon. Not respectability and comfort. It takes EVERYONE to make a movement happen.

It's a balancing act between precision and performance. It's rare to have a model that requires the range of values available in fp32 and a lot of hardware is optimized for fp16/fp8/int8. Textual models are often fine with fp8/int8, but visual models benefit from the wider range available in fp16.

Tolkien fought in the Battle of the Somme. He saw the horrors of war, and the moments of bravery and fear within it up close.

And after all that. ALL that. He wrote Lord of the Rings. He declared true bravery and masculinity to be love, friendship and humbleness.

Musk is everything he hated.

We aren't leaving as we feel a responsibility to our community on multiple levels.

And also, we are insulated from the worst impacts for a variety of reasons and we should use those advantages to help others.

Beyond that, I don't want to. This is my home and I want to fight for it.

Like, it sucks that you don’t get to have fun because everybody wants to keep pointing out how you fucked up, but *that’s what the group chat is for*. Go talk to your exec coach or your therapist. Nobody in leadership should be publicly woe-is-me-ing about users saying their trust is broken.

Today we learned that in June the US economy lost jobs for the first time since 2020. We haven’t seen this kind of net job loss since - well, since the last time Trump was in charge.

I think people really struggle w partially consolidated authoritarianism, either understating our problem or understating our power

It's like we're in a liminal fascist space. And not recognizing how far gone we are or thinking we're simply too far gone are both grave errors we can't afford to make
