This is more Jazzrock/Funk, covering classics and standards, but in a weird way.

TIMT & Phaneronaut - Christmas EP 2025
Choose your preferred music service
The "Christmas EP 2025" puts together last year's collaboration with @phaneronaut.com
Holiday music that sheds light on the dark sides of the holiday season: Loneliness, isolation, toxic relations, consumerism and homelessness. I wish you all a pleasant first Advent.

Itβs weird.
Y'all are welcome to guess for yourself what I like and what "the public" likes. I'm happy that there's anything on there at all that people like enough to tell me that they do so.

Turns out - again - that I'm clueless about my own music. On the current album, the favorite of almost everybody who has given me feedback so far is absolutely not my favorite piece on the album. I'm absolutely fine with that, I'm just surprised. I guess I shouldn't be, as this has happened before.

A picture of a flute on a chair with a book on learning the flute next to it.
Me in 2025. The goal is to get good enough to play a short solo in one of the new pieces we are working on with one of my bands right now.

He even claimed to have been the performer in the robot costume. It nearly moved her to tears (of joy) to see the work of her father remembered in such an unexpected way! I had absolutely no idea about all of this. Here's to unexpected joyful surprises. (4/4)

A still from the movie "Santa Clause conquers the Martians", showing a roboe, Santa Clause, two green aliens and a few other characters from the movie.
Something cool happend today at work: I always use silly still images from obscure Science Fiction movies as MS Teams backgrounds for virtual meetings. On a whim I wanted my background to be holiday-themed for the next weeks, so I changed it to a still from "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians". (1/4)

Coming back to this: I found a Reddit discussion about this topic as well. www.reddit.com/r/classicalm...
I listened to some of the recommendations there. I especially liked the "Contes Cruel" by Tristan Murail.

This year my music got 96,000 streams on Spotify and had 46,000 listeners and I made⦠$185.61. Total.
This is indefensible. Truly an evil company. I totally get why people enjoy using Spotify, but if you want to support musicians, please consider buying our stuff on Bandcamp once in awhile. π

#8 Use βconceptional continuityβ
Use recurring themes and motifs to create conceptual continuity within your composition.
I've been a bit lazy with keeping up-to-date with my blog posts on creative strategies for musicians/ composers/ producers here, but there have been a few since the last time I mentioned them. Here's the latest: phaneronaut.com/2024/11/20/8...
