I need people to understand that webp only "sucks" because Microsoft (and adobe) are treating it exactly like how they treated gifs up until Windows 10.
WebP is your friend. It preserves quality while keeping file sizes low.

Not trying to be rude, but you can just use an alternative app views (clients) like WitchSky. Though some of the things requested are against the underlying protocol of what they're trying to do: let you own your data in a decentralized way.
