oh no :(
Yup - I was using a Google bike to go from my Google office to another Google building to pick something up. All the intervening space is also Google.
I sometimes walk past those bollards for walking meetings and every time I ponder why they are like that.
Bike racks is correct. The bike, the racks, and the bollards are all in Google colours, so it is intentionally coordinated, in a sense.
(I guess the bollards would be yellow anyway because that's a pretty standard bollard colour)
Follow-up: the bollards really wild stop a bicycle getting through. I checked.
The gaps aren't wide enough to comfortably fit through. You could veer around them, but that's not exactly ideal. Wider bollards would stop vehicles just as effectively without being an obstacle.
Keeping vehicles out doesn't make sense here anyway - it opens into space also protected by bollards.
A two way cycle route with three yellow bollards in the way, too closely spaced for a bicycle to comfortably pass through.
Bicycle path (no bicycles allowed)
The one in that photo is actually this (arguably better) one: apps.rebble.io/en_US/applic...
(I am biased about it being better, because I wrote it. But also because it has better animations, better responsiveness, better score sharing, and the letter grid is actually even.)

A brief update in Pebble land: Google has now also released the Pebble SDK documentation source: github.com/google/pebbl...
This is what Pebble originally used to generate the site that is mirrored at developer.rebble.io/developer.pe...

After years of work, its a good day for Pebble fans: opensource.googleblog.com/2025/01/see-...
(I am fine, probably. I will hear back about my x-rays tomorrow.)
My brand new crutches
This morning: โwouldnโt it be nice to go for a bike ride?โ
This afternoon:

I have scrolled through it and categorised each post I saw: Twitter, politics, Twitter, politics, Bluesky, art, architecture, politics, meme, quirky, bluesky, politics, politics, fandom, art, bluesky, politics, Bluesky/politics, a cat, a bird, two rats, politics, politics, mushrooms, politics.
The bluesky discover feed was pretty decent a month or two ago, but it is now not really any better than what Twitter had to serve up. Possibly actually worse.
Oh well.
How are you all finding me here? Is there some tool digging up my one non-pinned tweet from over a year ago?
Also, hi! I should probably use this a bit more.
Celebrating 10M users: #482,440.
This would probably be more meaningful if I ever actually used bluesky.
A near-final render leaked early before it was released to theatres.
Then, in later events, the production company for the TV series was compromised repeatedly and all the remaining episodes for the season (and later the show) were posted online, along with piles of assets and many years of emails.
This is perhaps also motivation to fix my website that I haven't touched in five years, if it's also going to be my username.
Wow, now I have yet another social media app to somehow remember to post on sometimes!
