I deleted about half of the apps off my phone yesterday. It’s kind of amazing how much more usable this has made my phone.

Why on earth do financial institutions leave phone messages with instructions to call back to a phone number that is not listed on their website? This seems like an incredibly bad practice.
Working on rebuilding our home network setup. Trying out UniFi. Anyone have experience with this suite of products? @josh.whitver.net
Today’s adventure: Being an Irish Dance Dad at the Mall of America.
Seriousness and ethics should be the first filter for anyone we want to elevate to a position of public trust. We seem to have ignored this.
I think it’s time to take inventory of my social media and see how much of each feed is algorithmically generated junk, how much is ads, and how much is real on each platform and then act accordingly.
Surely this new video won't make me seem like a crank.

Appreciated this video. Being old enough to have lived through a few technology hype cycles, the "GENERATIVE AI IS GOING TO REPLACE ALL HUMAN INTELLIGENCE" got really old, really quick. I think that the most important skill someone can have these days is the ability to vet and source information.
Preflighting in the hangar during winter FTW.
I do wonder how BlueSky intends to make money. Right now it’s clean and wonderful, but someone eventually has the pay the bills.
It's *really* interesting to see the differences in ads I'm getting on my work (cardsandpoints) YouTube account versus my personal account.
Up early this morning for a Jon Hosking Peloton run and walk! 🏃♂️🏃♂️🏃♂️
Crypto is just legalized gambling. But gambling is probably safer because it’s regulated.
When I got on BlueSky, I followed a bunch of news sources. That was a mistake. I've unfollowed all of them and now my "Following" feed is exactly what I want... updates from friends and people I'm interested in following online.
There are wins to be had here... overall, he's going to be a disaster, but we can come out ahead in a few places in the next four years.
His mantra of the solution to obesity and diabetes is diet and exercise changes could be parlayed into more funding for nutritious foods in schools and more funding for physical education and sports.
To most people, that sounds reasonable. But I've seen us fight that specific battle before and we come up sounding like the unreasonable ones.
I think that we have to push back hard on probably 50% of the stuff he'll want to do, but the left (if we're smart) can get wins out of the other 50%...
Yeah. Some of the stuff that he'll probably try to get through is scary, especially the anti-vax stuff. But I fear that the left will go full-resistance on even reasonable-sounding things.
For example, I could see him pushing to ban the use of food stamps for convenience foods and soda...
For a flight in before the bad weather rolled in. Felt good to be back in the air. ❤️🛫
Be VERY skeptical of any notable person with a name.bsky.social handle on here. There are A TON of fake accounts being set up... and many of them have tens of thousands of followers.
Your public facing domain IS your "blue checkmark". And that's a great way to have it. If someone's Blue Sky handle is theirname.cnn.com or theirname.foxnews.com then they have been authenticated. Most major creators should have their own public domains.
Looks like I will be going flying tomorrow. Here's hoping that my flight can actually go after what seems like months of weather and maintenance cancellations.
Nice! You now have your blue checkmark.
You can change it over if you own a domain. This is probably one of my favorite features. No one else can get @aaronhurd.com and I know that @journalist.cnn.com is legit. No need for blue check marks.
Taking a break from being an Irish dance parent to do a bit of studying.
👍 Also, how do you not have a domain account??
For me, having a LARGE table is essential. I like taking notes in a notebook and I often have something physical that I’m reading, photographing, or referencing. I got the IKEA large standing desk, which works well.
Friends, how are you planning on using blue sky? Why did you leave Twitter (or if you’re just adding the platform or you’re leaving somewhere else, where and why?)
It’s interesting to come into BlueSky. The initial feed was filled with political social media activists posting junk from fringe sites of dubious quality. But I’m seeing more stuff of value now that I’m following actual people I know.
One of the issues I’m having with all of the new BlueSky accounts is the lack of any verification process. You posted the link on your videos, which was helpful. But I wish more people would use their domain names as their handles. That would make spotting authentic accounts easier.
