"Truckee River murder house, Reno, Nevada" 5" x 5" encaustic on panel, framed 2025.
I did a series of these a few year back , with the intention of having them be used as "bookcase spacers".

still counts. I try to always work alla prima. but if the painting is larger that three feet, sometimes it's physically impossible to do so. It works well for you
alla prima makes it much more impressive.
the "horse on the outskirts" is marvelous.
'winging it' is my baseline.
working in handmade watercolors on a chalk gessoed canvas is giving me mad scientist vibes. not to mention super messy.

Leonora Carrington, The Lovers, 1987
An example of the surreal, enigmatic, dreamlike art of Gertrude Abercrombie. 'The Queen' depicts a woman with long dark hair, wearing a blue gown with a long train, and a crown. She carries a sceptre/wand. She is standing in a bare room with a dark red floor, her gaze turned towards us. Perched on a ledge behind her is an owl, who holds up the end of the train in its beak.
"Surrealism is meant for me. I am a pretty realistic person but donβt like all I see. So I dream that it is changed. Then I change it to the way I want it."
~Gertrude Abercrombie

love the pose in the smaller painting on the left.
Never saw this one before, Pepa. thanks!
stunning.
huzzah!
I like the luminous quality the colors get in watercolor, but I have never liked how fragile the painting is if it's large and on paper. Also, I prefer mixing my own colors from raw pigments and gum arabic (and honey). I can load the pigments into the medium for more intensity.

people follow you because your art is inventive and original.
the reason I started playing guitar.
Guitarist John Fahey (born today in 1939 in Washington, DC) has a singular recording legacy β especially his output during the 1960s. His initial three albums are landmarks: Blind Joe Death; The Dance of Death & Other Plantation Favorites; & The Transfiguration of Blind Joe Death. Fahey died in 2001
The usual suspects, post Graphic Novel panel. Gary Phillips and I look like we're about to throw down and Dale Berry looks like he's trying very hard not to giggle.
self portrait 2/27/26. charcoal.
