If any of you have Mastodon accounts, you can follow me there at my new account:

I've heard some rumblings of mass bannings of trans accounts on this platform with no given reasoning behind it. I'm making a mastodon.social account just in case. I'm not dependent on any platform, so long as it's libre (free and open source) and transparent.
I have the effective and not at all flawed strategy of waiting until I get interested in writing something, hyperfixating over it for some indeterminate period of time, then either deciding it's good enough to share or saving it to a folder I never return to.
1bit art looks amazing in amber. I know back in the 80s, I would have been amazed seeing something like this on a DOS PC with an MDA monitor... Could someone make a video player for Hercules cards?
This imagery comes from the amazing music video directed by GERIKO:

Discovering Nine Inch Nails for the first time last month has been a transcendent experience. Now a lot of the other music I listen to just seems so derivative of NIN, who did it way earlier.
We need to bring back big, bulky, upgradeable laptop designs that are built to survive anything. Like the pre-Lenovo ThinkPads or Toughbooks. It's good for the environment because you won't have your battery or RAM fail and then your laptop is useless until you get expensive, hard repairs done.
Potential hot take: saying that listening to audio books isn't reading is completely dismissive towards disabled people that can't read text on a page for whatever reason.
Close up image of the Illuminated Manuscript 40mm chonk D20 on a white background. The die is an opaque matte tan with hand-painted elements resembling medieval paintings. There is a gold dragon and other embellishments like vines and flowers around the die. The numbers on the die are gold.
Comparison between the Illuminated Manuscript chonk D20 and a regular sized D20.
Another angle of the D20.

it's great that google has improved by making sure the first thing you see in any search is an unsourced list of falsehoods.
David Lynch describes going to to Bob’s Big Boy to drink vast sums of coffee and chocolate milkshakes
Picked up this little book of writers’ writing rituals, & I think most of em are liars — “up at dawn, 6 hours at my desk, followed by calisthenics, liquor, & reading edifying works.” But David Lynch delivers the goods.
Post your favourite Pokémon, wrong answers only.
Running yourself into the ground isn't good for anything (output, mental clarity, quality). Oftentimes you learn more and do more by taking breaks. And not everything has to be so goal oriented; sometimes, doing what you want to do leads to its own rewards without all the anxiety to perform well.
A cartoon by Sarah Anderson where the characters are celebrating going to bed by saying YAAAY and turning off the lights
This by Sarah Anderson is absolutely my life.
Image of quote by Marcus Aurelius: You are not compelled to form any opinion about this matter before you, nor to disturb your peace of mind at all. Things in themselves have no power to extort a verdict from you.
Every day I tap the sign. From Marcus Aurelius's Meditations.
As a society, we really slipped by not making it our goal to top the soundtrack of Tony Hawk’s American Wasteland
How about the rad purple, green, and orange one?
I was upset by Neovim's change in the default color scheme a month or so ago. Until I actually tried out some of the other preinstalled themes. Then I found "Elflord" and now I'm never going back.
Hell yeah I love the colors! What kind of switches do you use?
I feel like a lot of issues right now are such that it isn't my place to comment on them. I'm not much of a political scientist, and I'm a cis white male, so putting out stuff about e.g. women's restrooms seems wrong from me. But I support what you guys are fighting for, just from the sidelines.
Licensing your code (if you make it publicly available) is a big deal. Just pick one and apply it and you save lots of people a huge headache later on. If you don't know what license to pick, just pick MIT or BSD 0-clause. Don't use the public domain, it doesn't apply in some countries!
Honestly. I would rather just pay more than have ads that don't respect my mental well-being or my time.
Every Windows update has the "Lets finish setting up your computer!"
and it's just 6 pages of trying to trick you into installing bloatware and change all the settings to pin junk to your taskbar.
Every. Single. Update.
I prefer yelling unacceptable like lemongrab from adventure time
I think I’ve moved past hoping that social media platforms last forever. Instead I hope I can get some good years out of each one and strengthen community ties before we jump to the successor
I like that it's a free and open source system powered by a clear protocol that can be expanded and interconnected/bridged with other services. I see this as a massive win for people's freedom switching away from corporate controlled X to an independent alternative.
True. The science fiction technology never gets made if nobody has the motivation or puts in the effort in the field to find those solutions.
