A screenshot of Pixel Pup, playing the Nineties puzzle pack. It shows Franny the dog sitting at a computer with a classic Mac OS desktop. The puzzle is being played in a Windows 95 style window.
I'm sorry everyone. I managed to cross the streams.

This floppy is like the TARDIS. It might look like a normal 1.2mb floppy, but apparently it has 4 gigs of bad sectors on it!

The ESA and game preservation The ESA has repeatedly pushed back against game preservation efforts, and continued to do so here. In its argument, the organization said a "substantial market" still exists for classic games, including secondary markets. "Enabling widespread remote access to preserved games with minimal supervision would present a serious risk to an important market," it wrote.
(the ESA has been THE primary organization advocating against the Video Game History Foundation's efforts to allow online access to their library of preserved games, for the record - JUST IN CASE anyone wants to sell them someday)
"humble bundle featuring a harry potter game supporting the ESA" is like... wow! I can get a side of FLAMING garbage with my garbage? I can fund a "charity" that actively advocates AGAINST game preservation _and_ jkr at the same time? wow! not in a million fucking years

I was just venting to a friend the other day about how 10 years ago it was likeโฆ unheard of to see this volume of projects get so far into development before the company funding it decides โproject cancelled, everyone go homeโ how much money is being thrown away on art no one gets to see?
New video! Digging a bit deeper into the settings of the BMC64 emulator, installing all emulated systems and even getting autofire joysticks to work.

A screenshot of Pixel Pup for the Game Boy Advance. It shows a nonogram puzzle embedded in an old style hutch, a piece of furniture that typically holds dishes, books, etc.
The DIY puzzle pack is starting to come along as well, featuring a killer hutch made by @objetdiscret.itch.io
The final version will not just have the hutch sitting in a void :) #wip
Pixel Pup is a nonogram (aka picross) game coming out for the #GameBoyAdvance

a blog comment where someone says: Mark: devising one fairly impractical encryption scheme and then rejecting it isn't really strong grounds for rejecting the idea of encryption. [smiley emoji but absolutely incredibly enormous]
I'm poking through an old blog where something has gone wrong with the CSS and emoji images are being loaded not at text size but as unstyled SVGs which expand to the size of the container, and it REALLY adds something to the good ol' passive-aggressive friendly smile

The asymmetry of the value placed on human life is so striking. Israel has a goal to recover 40-year-old remains; to do so, it invades a sovereign country, and the lives of 26 Lebanese are an afterthought. Their names not even worth printing in the New York Times.
Power the game
For Random Game Saturday, here is Power: The Game. It's a not really notable board game style strategy game. The weird thing is who published it: one International Business Machines.

pokemon are always doing shit like "Drowzee used Crazy Floor! Drowzee started getting funky" and it won't tell you what that means. top competitive strategies will revolve around getting funky.

Oh neat, with that we should have all Satellaview versions of Quintetโs Super Famicom games preserved!
(Gaia Gensouki and Slapstick didnโt get broadcast demos from as far as I know.)

Hiya! Anyone in the SF Bay Area/Remote need a cool programmer for your team? I've been messing with computers for over 30 years now, I can program anything with bits, and I've got a lot of experience with all sorts of different systems, environments, and languages.

I truly hate that the default way to share a creative work is to toss it on a site like this instead of a place where people can go and see your body of work presented with less emphasis on temporal context
Screenshot of OpenEmu on MacBook Pro under OS X El Capitan, running Pokemon LeafGreen in German, with the "Save the game? Yes/No" dialog box up; player is Kikuri, 2 badges, Pokedex 17 caught, play time 4:21
Neat~ :3
(too bad I was a minute too late for 4:20 :P)
btw, PowerFox, i.e. that new browser for ex. PowerPC Macs running Leopard and Intel Macs on Snow Leopard, is apparently a fork of Basilisk, which runs on 10.7 Lion and up! So I got that onto the MBP as well, and the two even share user profiles, so, nice~
