When my Mooradian finally wore out my luthier sold me a Bobelock case. I have been pleased with it - padding is thick and firm, and everything about it feels heavy-duty. Very stiff and rugged.
I taught for years in cheap shoes. My exhortation to student teachers I’ve sponsored: spend your first paycheck on quality footwear. That new car can wait.
We made cutout Christmas cookies with our teenage boys. Left to right: a gingerbread man, a crewmate from ‘Among Us’, a figure we call ‘torso man’ which I don’t know what it was originally but is now hopelessly bent out of shape, a holly leaf, another torso man, and a sand worm.
The way he manages to be completely un-zany in the midst of everything else. Without him the film just drives itself off a zaniness cliff.
Michael Caine is brilliant and every Frank Oz-voiced character sounds like Yoda.
I started my career as an orchestra bassist, but switched to full-time teaching. After 20 years of teaching, I still feel like an imposter when I am teaching but every time I get to play bass it feels like coming home.
I used to take off my watch when I was younger but leave it on now. Always wear my wedding ring - teach all day playing violin, viola, cello, and bass. Neither seems to interfere with my playing.
“The piano is just a big wooden box of decrescendos” is one of the best descriptions I have ever heard.
