If there was one gas station in your whole state they could do it that way. gas is $3 until the underground tank is empty, then I fill it up, this time gas is $2.75. next time was expensive, $3.50. etc.
that would be fine, because there nobody to undercut them.
They know the cost of what’s in *their* ground. that’s the crux of it. there’s no way to know how much the station across the street is going to [be able to] charge, so they can’t really charge based on what they paid, in either direction.
It’s speculative, because they eventually have to buy more, and can’t anticipate how much that will cost.
it is not viable to sell relative to what you paid, because if I pay $10,000 to fill, and in a week you pay $2000, I’m never going to sell my gas, people will just go to you for 1/5 the price.
the united states does not recognize the jurisdiction of the ICC, because it wisely recognizes that basically all of its leaders are guilty of war crimes. There’s functionally no way for the ICC to try Americans.
First thing's first, babe: the meta glasses stay ON during sex. 😤
tbh disneyland has a much richer culture than dubai does.
talking of media literacy, did you know that the nyt often solicits specific opinion pieces from specific people?
do you think that maybe when a publication repeatedly seeks out and pays to publish the same opinions, that might reflect their values in some fashion?
I wish people like this understood that they are allowed to post about what they want to see. Complaining about people posting about real life is ultimately just still posting about real life, except whinier.
If they want to see sports punditry, they should post sports punditry!
yeah, we all know twitter is a nazi website, that’s why a lot of us don’t use it and don’t want posts from it to be imported here
muscular guy with text that says “that’s an ad hominem” and the response is “yeah bro this isn’t a debate, I do not respect you”
me 20 seconds into every conversation with an “AI is gonna take everyone’s job and that’s good, actually” freak:
huh, while editing I sure butchered the grammar on that. 🤦♂️
got into a tedious argument with a former coworker whose response to someone saying LLMs can’t produce anything novel by saying his information was obviously out of date and lots of exciting things are happening.
Saying that an LLM can’t produce novel works isn’t an opinion, it’s a fact!
phew, good thing my own existence is not okay with me. I was worried I might be a stereotype for a moment
also there’s little no way that’s true, lmao.
roddenberry is responsible for me knowing who kevin sorbo is. unforgivable.
those comments are dire.
what I think is that every person who has ever made an argument in the form of “so you think <some totally unrelated thing nobody said>?” should be put in a labor camp and banned from the internet for life.
“only *some* trans and brown people deserve to die in agony.” - an enlightened centrist. 😌
also it’s not even true. the 18-year-olds the US send to warzones have and largely obey rules of engagement designed to de-escalate. If they were treating US streets like a warzone, Renee Good would still be alive.
Yep. I’ve gotten rid of a bunch of software that wouldn’t stop begging me to create more slop, and I won’t be back after the bubble pops.
ironically, making up a Guy to be mad at is one of the most online things possible.
they have published like 12000 credulous articles about elon musk over the years. they’re fine with being part of scams.
yeah one user on the nazi site you insist on exporting content from represents all americans, you got it
I learned about a good one recently from @scriptingjapan.bsky.social. an anime character is hit with “ぬるぽ”, to see if they’re extremely online and they reflexively give the response, “ガッ”. it’s translated as epic/fail, which has nothing to do with the original meaning, but has the same sentiment.
“the masses” also know about idioms and pop culture references and regional turns of phrase, all of which can’t easily be machine translated in a way that is comprehensible to the reader and true to the original intent.
It’s so funny to see people insist that democrats are powerless when they’re getting what they want. the reason democrats don’t try to stop republicans is that they agree with them and think what they’re doing is good. same as it ever was.
ignoring your total inability to understand how different things are different, it has nothing to do with moral high ground. @anildash.com isn’t saying he’s better than them. he’s saying their conduct is bad. it’s not comparative, it’s absolute.
do you want to take a minute to look up “walled garden”
