This 8-person studio has officially released two videogames. We are still alive. (For now).

Still the best surreal horror game ever (accidentally) created.
text: in contrast to carmack's eternal pessimism regarding his past creations, project specialist john romero is the biggest fan of id's games that you could ever hope to meet. his enthusiasm is infectious as he plays the latest beta making his own sound effects with his mouth to compensate for the game. sound effects that haven't been added in yet. it is this mix of diehard programmer who plays games and diehard gamer who programs that ultimately makes id's games as good as they are.

Both the first RUINER and Metal Eden were so darn good that I'm beyond hyped. Hopefully offline single player is still an option.
I feel this is just the design doc key art for Fallout 76.
You know you've done f'd up when everyone is on Nintendo's side in a lawsuit.
One of the most underrated games ever. It's basically RE1 with mechanics of 4 plus deep sea monsters and the coolest boss design in horror games.
That said, I will never stop laughing at the Lynch-fanboy terrorists hiding in the ""Finnish alps"".
Off-topic; One of my GOTYs of 2018 (from the devs of one of the GOTYs of 2025) gets a sequel! www.youtube.com/watch?v=QnyF...
Knowing it is a Microslop product spearheaded by a newbie GenAI CEO, my prediction; an aways-online, AI-infested, photo-ID-requiring, disc-driveless, neutered closed-garden DRM PC with a deluxe-premium price tag.
Breaking news; Texas chiropractors about to make mad bank as id Software moves from carrying all of Zenimax on their backs to ALSO carrying Blizzard.
Seriously though, I guess I have to look into Diablo IV now.
S1023 - Teeth
I could live with low quality textures, but it looks ten times worse with the high quality, crisp characters standing on surfaces of smeared pixels straight out of a PS2 title.
Also, 'press X to doubt' about not being able to fit it on the disc. Just compress it, FFS, ZIP is still a thing.
Almost-on-topic; From the devs of the penguin platforming masterpiece Bread & Fred, their new game is about garden gnome shenanigans.
BTW, Limited Run Games no longer does these cards as part of the base game orders β and that's because of Nintendo. Nintendo hoards trading card companies for PokΓ©mon like OpenAI hoards SSD and RAM for ""AI"". This happened to the company doing LRG's cards.
Limited Run Games' trading cards for Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken's VITA and PS4 releases. One features the game's key art, the other the penguin dictator Putzki.
π§ Weekly #Penguin 967
I remembered there was still one thing yet to be featured from one of my fave penguin games; Rocketbirds!
The games were available physically only via Limited Run Games and back then that meant they also came /w trading cards. Here are the ones for the Vita and PS4 versions.
The expression on the horse's face says it all, it knows who did it.
That is a master-class rage-bait headline if I ever saw one. Bravo to the author, you really have to fight the urge to correct such denial of reality - which I'm sure was the point.
S1019 - Piano
Off-topic; Reanimal was crazy good, can't wait to see where it goes next. It's also the first ever UE5 game I've played that both looks good and runs smooth - usually its either-or.
It's also one of the most astonishingly good looking games I've ever seen. The art design is out of this world.
There's hope. They did do it for Wolfenstein II's Switch release via LRG.
I'm not a souls-like genre fan - I've only liked The Surge and Code Vein from the genre - but to my understanding is the remake/remaster is wanted mostly for performance reasons. Plus when every game that didn't need an improved port got one (i.e. TLOU), it left Bloodborne fans feeling slighted.
Check out this level in the precision platformer Soda-Powered Penguin
Almost on topic, but the theme song for 2026 just dropped.
This man keeps on giving us good tunes, I remember doodling the very first opening sequence of the first TAGAP using Zombie as a temp track.

Yeah, pretty sure that was my expression back in the school days during a math test. Sure felt like alien equations.
DOOM TDA and Witchfire? And some say perfect crossovers don't exist, but here we are.

Similar thing was reported last year here in Finland. The biggest record store in the country started to sell used movies on the side and it has become huge. Especially after AI """remasters""" became a thing (thanks, Cameron), every movie buff I know has reverted back to older discs over streaming.
