As a programmer who has been learning for 15 years the thing I find hardest is properly coherent composition. To get it right I have to stop and think and craft like I’m writing a damn novel or something. When I see good composition I am in awe. LLMs… are, well, … not geared for composition.

This really shouldn’t be the case, but computing and applications have gone so far backwards that things like FileMaker are back in the game.
I’m realising lately that FileMaker Pro is a great tool for writing quick and powerful personal productivity applications. It has a decent UI that can be extended with (on or offline) HTML, a decent database built-in and integration helpers with things like shell commands, AppleScript and shortcuts.
Websites are good in the browser, general purpose software is much better when it’s on your computer imo. So much more control and with open source licenses much more customisation potential.
