But yeah. My big take is that some crunch is great and that games don't have to try and simulate the whole galaxy to still be crunchy. That meat provides stable ground and, in my experience, makes it a lot easier for players to actually make cool characters.

Admittedly, every game is a little simulationist and a little focused on character narrative, it's a big spectrum. Delta Green wants the GM to mostly wave things off because the PCs are cool secret agents, but it also models getting splattered by a car pretty well.

I enjoy the mechanical meat of CofD, Exalted Essence, Storypath Ultra, Burning Wheel, Geneys, etc. But I enjoy a focus on telling stories rather than trying to simulate the Real World.

I love crunch in rules, I just tend to prefer narrativist systems with lots of crunch which is unfortunately a much smaller market than simulationist games with lots of crunch.

But it is okay... I have set upon a project to convert Eclipse Phase into narrativist crunch....
