Immich is such a great intro to self hosting. Their docs are fairly straightforward, I don’t think I did much of anything to customize the docker install other than throttling the ML container resources because it’s running on a 4Gb Raspberry pi 4. The mobile app is also excellent for casual backup.

The short answer is “yes”. Especially if you’re willing to build it up to what you want. I haven’t even touched the new “bases” features but my understanding is it pretty much puts it on par with what folks like about Notion.

I agree with you and OP, but I think a complicating factor is that principles are weaker now so “it’s illegal” and “it’s a stupid law” are concurrent beliefs when it goes against what someone wants reality to be in that particular moment.
