Thanks!
Thanks!
Who are you following to learn, if you don't mind sharing?
Another gouache class, another painting! This week we painted from b&w reference photos and did color studies to identify the color palette we wanted to use
Oregon here! We had a Salmon-mobile that came to elementary schools and had the salmon lifecycle painted inside
Week 2 of my #gouache class!
I’m taking a 4 week #gouache class this month! I am trying to see the shapes of light instead of letting my brain name things and default to icons. Day 1 done!
Reading is political.
Reading has always been political.
Your favorite characters wouldn’t just sit by and watch. They’d get up and burn some shit to the ground.

It actually is very important that you do things that you take pleasure in, regularly. That is part of how you survive the things that feel like they are going to destroy you.
James
Read for a neighborhood book club which yes is very cute. The book was fine. Historical fiction and literary fiction are usually not my cup of tea but socializing with neighbors is!
The Antique Hunter’s Guide to Murder
LOVED! It was so enthralling even though the majority of the book covers like 2 days basically. Immediately looked up to see if and when a second book comes out.
A Winter In New York
Very cute! I love Hallmark-esque reads at Christmas and this fit the bill.
Book thread for 2025 (maybe!)
Not the most aesthetic photos but I finally painted the trim around my bathroom door and I removed this bead of caulk and re-caulked it 😌 #justhomeownerthings
My goal this year is to take one art class a month! I took an online watercolor class through Case For Making Friends where we painted this chair—it was fun taking it from a piece I thought was fine, to something I thought I ruined, to something I actually liked.
When fancy restaurants charge you like $5 for tea when all they're really doing is putting a tea bag in some hot water, I call that a steep price
Okay made a digital garden that may or may not grow but for now it has served the purpose of holding this knowledge I learned: glitteringkatie.github.io/garden/1960s...
(still need to update the unfurl but we're going for progress over perfection here)
I think I'm leaning that way too 🤔 I of course am squatting on many domains for this use case anyways lol
I just did a deep dive stream of consciousness in a friend slack while I learned about using typefaces in screen printing in the 1960s. That feels like it should go somewhere 🤔
Where do people learn in the open these days? I'm learning more about art and trying to take an art class every month this year. Trying to figure out where feels right to share that. A blog? Here? Tumblr? A secret fourth thing? Basically want a collection of what I've learned in small bites...
One is a dear friend, Amy Reader! She lost a ton of art in the hurricane that hit NC last year so she is making prints and stickers of that art available through her patreon. Really cool fiber art!
I’ve started supporting artists I like on patreon specifically to beef up my sticker backstock and now I get multiple stickers MONTHLY in the mail!

My aunt is getting the keys to her first house today which now makes me the THIRD generation of single female homeowners in my family 🩷🩷🩷
Same to you! Right now I am in my holidays Hallmark-esque books 😂
Ooh I have been looking at Chuck Tingle (specifically Bury Your Gays)
Look at the difference in quality from last year’s too! I am so proud!
I made these! Two 5 yo boys are going to be v lucky this Christmas 🥹
Flat dragon body pattern pieces cut from felt, two in blue, two in green, with giant puppy dog eyes and little smiles
Making progress on Christmas gifts for my friends’ kids! These will be little felt dragon toys 🐉 It feels like such a privilege to have the time to learn new crafts for Christmas presents!
It’s been such a joke about “holding space for defying gravity” but I saw Wicked today with my family and not only did my mom, sister, and I hold hands while crying but then we did a family group hug when it was over. We genuinely held space I guess 😂
Just start making things look cool again
