Months of work and millions of dollars raised by thousands of our residents to help keep people in their homes comes down to the signature of one person. We’re calling on Mayor Frey to sign Pause Evictions, Save Lives. This policy temporarily gives residents 30 more days to help prevent evictions.

The Art Walk proposal for Central Ave is cool as hell. Could we put bike infrastructure on Polk or Jackson though and gain 11 feet for more trees and art on Central?

Could we eliminate parking on Central entirely and do a north-south rail line from downtown to Columbia Heights and beyond? 😈

Minneapolis City Council passes eviction notice extension from 30 days to 60. Same margin as in committee 7-5-1. Mayoral veto surely coming, and the votes aren't there to override it.

Voting no: Rainville, Vetaw, Warren, Shaffer, Palmisano

Abstention: Whiting

Look the chief was pretty clear: wildly unprofessional and dangerous ice behavior isn’t necessarily illegal, plus MPD made a point to leave before they could witness it, and finally he can’t fire anyone who couldn’t have intervened β€œsafely” per policy, and those guys have big guns β€” very unsafe

Another angle (after the injury, without graphic content) showing the ghouls on committee and guests having zero humanity left in them

the absolute ghouls in committee having no human reaction to this

[WARNING: This is a bit graphic.]

A Marine Corps veteran protesting Trump’s War on Iran had his arm broken by Capitol Police and GOP Senator Tim Sheehy. It appears to be a compound fracture.

well, the policy says we only need to intervene if we can do so safely and those guys have guns

Weird but true: Shortly before the ICE surge, MPD added policy language about federal immigration enforcement to include a "duty to intervene and duty to report." But somehow we got through the last several months and MPD never intervened, never forwarded any cases to the county attorney's office.

Well for starters the police union could publicly endorse the gun reforms that Minnesota Republicans are trying to block. That could help prevent some PTSD.

that’s cool! But what happens if we spend millions to build a vast web of them and a future city council says β€œyou know what… actually…” or could we end up with some shitty state or federal preemption of local policy.

I just can’t get behind it.

there is video of it, and it is them

interesting that they illegally point firearms at people and don’t cover their faces … that’s a lot of confidence is not being charged

bail bonds agents cannot legally point a firearm at bystanders like this

that’s 30 days of footage that can be court ordered, and that’s hoping we don’t discover one day the vendor is sharing willingly with entities.

I don’t want to spend local money accidentally building a federal panopticon.

Not worth the risk calculus to me personally.

Moriarty talks about meeting with police chiefs who thought "we don't have jurisdiction do we?"

She told them, "You absolutely do." Wants them to respond to complaints: show up, document.

These cameras can be subpoenaed by feds. It’s a waste of money on something dangerous to civil liberties. There are other ways to save lives with that money.
