Nah. A male candidate. I donβt recall his name and I donβt want to search for him as I donβt want his website or ad to gain any more views.

It is disappointing that individuals will visit here and believe that we support such a message. I promise there are many good people here that do not support racism, xenophobia, and fear mongering!

Living in central TX I keep seeing a commercial for a local race where the candidate is running on this specific platform. I was so confused the first time I saw it. Distracting the masses from the fact that all our utility rates have increased in the last year among other more important things?

One of the major reasons I cancelled my Amazon Prime account is that their streaming service is so crappy and they rarely had anything I wanted to watch. BTW I cancelled after seeing one of your posts and a few others. I thought it would be challenging to not have an account, but itβs been fine!

Experimental evidence that students are more likely to contest grades when they are delivered by an evaluator with a female-sounding name.
"These findings suggest that women in evaluative positions face disproportionate resistance when delivering negative assessments."

After working in the criminal justice system having to deal with crimes against children, I would argue to not post photos on ANY social media accounts. Itβs definitely very challenging to not post when you have a cute baby you want to share with world! Grandparents get REAL mad too π

Today is #NationalLawEnforcementSuicideAwarenessDay
I wrote this dedication for my dissertation in 2021. In the 4 years since, another 500 officers have died by suicide. It is for these individuals - these mothers, fathers, sons, daughters, sisters, brothers, friends - that I do this work. (1/)

'Rapture' comes from the Latin 'rapere' meaning "to seize and carry off."
'Raptor' also comes from 'rapere.'
We hope neither carries you off today.

π¨New pub with PhD student @shallen-a.bsky.social (Sheβs on the job market!) in PPR exploring SROsβ perceptions of selection for the position. It was suggested that being a parent and effective communicator, some law enforcement experience, and an ability to multitask are helpful characteristics.

I played too. My husband would poke fun at me for obsessing over logs after raid night. He didnβt understand that as a female, I felt like I couldnβt mess up a fight or even be mediocre. It wasnβt fun. I quit when working on dissertation and have never played again.

Wonderful news. Such interesting and impactful articles recently! The editorial team at Police Practice & Research has been wonderful to work with and so understanding and kind when I requested a deadline extension due to having a baby (which was not as common of a response as one would hopeπ).
