I think this just feeds into a system where every time the state changes parties they have to repeal a hundred laws and put back their laws.

Anthropic have been positioning themselves as the ethical AI company, what with their constitution and all.
So it will be interesting to see how they respond to this story.

Be on the lookout for AI infographics:
- recent advances by Google and Qwen (pictured)
- will look like it came out of a textbook or a travel brochure
- answers a question exactly (a little too convenient)
- any individual component would be strange in isolation
It is very hard to get accurate numbers of the number of βnon-coding genesβ β the amount of DNA that encodes truly functional ncRNAs. But it seems very likely that these genes outnumber our protein-coding genes. /8

π₯𧬠Why sequence ALL insect genomes?
Because insects run the planet. They pollinate our crops, recycle nutrients, build soils, drive food webs, and shape ecosystems on every continent. π
Yet weβve only scratched the surface of their genomic diversity.

Re: 1M new species, so is this mostly trained on unicellular life? From the paper it sounds like multicellular eukaryote genomes were not excluded from pre-training (except for human). But if everything's in there, they wouldn't be as much of a share of the data.
Title: Wore an imitation diamond Text: Mrs Melissa Russell, who is being sued by the estate of Cassius Ward for the recovery of valuable property - claims that the diamond ring she took from the finger of the dead man was an imitation diamond, and that he gave her the original and valuable stone the night before he died.
Melissa Russell, who is well-known to many of our readers, is in contempt of court for failure to pay costs of bringing her into court in the hearings of the case brought against her by Walter R Davis, who is seeking to discover on what grounds she claims him as her husband
Melissa Russell is still causing trouble to Milwaukee lawyers and courts
In 1900s Milwaukee, Melissa Russell committed multiple bizarre crimes to the point the newspaper says she's "well-known to many of our readers"

Great, if you can ID him with the mask then you definitely don't need a fake AI photo
Because this is from a video where he wore a mask the whole time, so it simply is AI generated. There are multiple versions of the face pic circulating on BlueSky
So it's fake and not helping anyone
There is no such thing as an "Ai estimation" it's just posting a known fake photo. Why do that
Please support the wife and son of Renee Good as they grapple with the devastating loss of their wife and mother.

Figure 1 Illustration of why AI systems cannot realistically scale to human cognition within the foreseeable future: (b) Human cognitive capacities (such as reasoning, communication, problem solving, learning, concept formation, planning etc.) can handle unbounded situations across many domains, ranging from simple to complex. (a) Engineers create AI systems using machine learning from human data. (d) In an attempt to approximate human cognition a lot of data is consumed. (c) Making AI systems that approximate human cognition is intractable (van Rooij, Guest, et al., 2024), i.e., the required resources (e.g. time, data) grows prohibitively fast as input domains get more complex, leading to diminishing returns. (a) Any existing AI system is created in limited time (hours, months or years, not millennia or eons). Therefore, existing AI systems cannot realistically have the domain-general cognitive capacities that humans have. [Made with elements from freepik.com.]
