An old reel to reel magnetic tape. It has a label, in Jay Lepreau's handwriting, proclaiming it to be "UNIX Original from Bell Labs v4 (see manual for fmt)"
While cleaning a storage room, our staff found this tape containing #UNIX v4 from Bell Labs, circa 1973
Apparently no other complete copies are known to exist: https://gunkies.org/wiki/UNIX_Fourth_Edition
We have arranged to deliver it to the Computer History Museum

This is hilarious! I saw my name and email address in the author annotation on a Symfony HttpKernel exception class, and I wasnβt sure why it was there, so I traced it back to a commit I made back in 2012, which I have no recollection of. π

@kyleford @jalefkowit This is also very enlightening:
βDirected, in the case of Jedi, means Marquand sat in the directorβs chair. What else it means, is unclear. [Marquand] otherwise deferred to Lucas, who directed as producer.β
Lucas finally understood what Lynch was telling him:

This case shows how Open Source will die. With anyone just being able to pipe existing code and tests through an LLM and claiming that to be "clean room" (which is hogwash) no licensing can protect your work from being accumulated and monetized by anyone. The commons are actively being shredded [β¦]

Does it really matter what the code looks like or how itβs organized when machines are the ones reading and writing the code?
