I would say no it's not bad courtesy. In my private discord there have been some times where me and someone else are yelling at each other for dumb reasons and people come and leave and I don't see that as being rude at all. They just don't want to be part of it, which is perfectly reasonable.

Vent/Angry post I’m really frustrated today. I keep blocking people, but they get unblocked shortly after. I’ve made it clear in my bio that I’ll block anyone who talks about politics, and I mean it. If a conversation on my timeline starts to go there, you’ll be blocked.
