This is very good news. The vandalism of NIOSH was opposed by many including employers, labor and safety professionals including me. Of course it’s not done yet but on the way we all hope.

It would appear that many, if not all, of the firings affecting NIOSH are being reversed. These happened back in APRIL and JUNE, gutting our personnel.

No other communication- just a short email (without CDC or HHS signatures) stating RIF recission.

We don't want to go to Canada. We want our nation and our homeland that we took oaths to serve to not descend into a fascist hellscape. And many of us are working hard against that very outcome, whether current or former federal employee, RIF'd or not, furloughed or excepted.

Tonight was deeply painful.

We at CDC do this work because we care.
It’s long hours, often feeling overworked and not enough pay, but we do it because we want to make the world a better place.

So far, no additional RIFs at NIOSH, but thousands of others in critically important programs across HHS and CDC.

Even including some folks who had been exempt from furlough and required to work without pay.

Abhorrent.

To be clear, most of us are still in administrative limbo and not able to do our vital jobs- the agency has not functioned since April, even if some personnel were returned to duty.

It's gonna be interesting to see whether they reissue all NIOSH's RIFs (since worker safety isn't in line with the president's priorities) and then try to say the current court injunctions suddenly don't apply.

Very true, and a very great opportunity to remember that Black Americans were amongst the first and most extensively targeted victims of this country's history of labor exploitation.
