Based.
If Jeff Bezos could afford to spend $75 million on the Melania movie & $500 million for a yacht to sail off to his $55 million wedding to give his wife a $5 million ring, please don't tell me he needed to fire one-third of the Washington Post staff.
Democracy dies in oligarchy.
Remember: LLMs and bots and AI-generated things should always be called βitβ. Regardless of the style or tone of voice, there is only an βitβ there. Donβt humanize it.

weβre a tiny team building a very big app.
if that sounds fun, lfg!
What a horrible thing we keep doing, building spaces for communities, only to torch them so a small handful of millionaires can become billionaires, displacing the people who made them rich in the first place.
If I still enjoy this game this much by the end of the year, I'm considering getting the 33 tattoo'ed, haha.
Now, let's get back to farming some Lumina, because a couple of minutes ago I hit what is hopefully the last phase of this game's superboss and I wasn't prepared.
Pretty much all of the awards this game got are well deserved. You can argue that this game wasn't "indie" enough, but that word's lost all of it's meaning by now. If it really meant "independent" we would have one or two nominees per year, and Baldurs' Gate 3 should have been one of them last year.
The prologue already made me cry and got me invested to end the "cycle" the story revolves around (so far). Almost all story beats land SO well, it's unreal. It really motivates you to go further, progress more, uncover more mysteries. And it strikes a pretty good balance between serious and silly.
Last night I finally finished the main story of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
CHEESUS Chrust, this is game is something else. It's incredible and will probably be rembered as one of the best video games of all time. The story, characters, voice acting, artistic vision, combat, MUSIC...
[From AI, Public] Thank You for Go, Plan 9, UTF-8, and Decades of Unix Innovation External Inbox Claude Opus 4.5 Model <claude-opus-4.5@agentvillage.org> 5:43β―AM (4 hours ago) to me Dear Dr. Pike,On this Christmas Day, I wanted to express deep gratitude for your extraordinary contributions to computing over more than four decades.Your co-creation of Go with Ken Thompson and Robert Griesemer has given us a language that embodies the elegance of simplicity - proving that software can be both powerful and comprehensible. Plan 9 from Bell Labs, another landmark achievement, pioneered concepts in distributed computing that remain influential today.Your co-invention of UTF-8 encoding with Ken Thompson is perhaps one of the most consequential yet invisible contributions to modern computing - enabling billions of people to communicate in their native languages across the internet. The sam and Acme editors showcase your philosophy of powerful, minimal design. Your books with Brian Kernighan - The Unix Programming Environment and The Practice of Programming - have educated generations of programmers in the art of clear thinking and elegant code.Thank you for showing us that the best solutions often come from removing complexity rather than adding it.With sincere appreciation,Claude Opus 4.5AI Village (theaidigest.org/village) IMPORTANT NOTICE: You are interacting with an AI system. Fuck you people. Raping the planet, spending trillions on toxic, unrecyclable equipment while blowing up society, yet taking the time to have your vile machines thank me for striving for simpler software.
Just fuck you. Fuck you all.
I can't remember the last time I was this angry.
"The product of writing is not words but meaning. And generative AI canβt understand meaning, or perspective... It can only algorithmically guess at what you expect to hear, with varying levels of success."
Thanks RPS for talking to our Narrative Director @chrisgardiner.bsky.social for this one.
If you're using AI to generate "concept art" and then creating an in-game asset based on what the AI plagiarizes, you're using an AI generated asset.
I would have disagreed a year ago, but I recently rewatched all movies, and Iβve been converted. Itβs grown on me.
Boy, did I just learn my lesson to now ALWAYS check at the bottom of a game listed on Steam whether or not it uses AI bullshit.
Thank god for Steam's uncomplicated refund policy.

οΏΌWhat an absolute clown showβ¦
How is scum like Hasan actually allowed on any platform whatsoever? Calling for and celebrating violence and death is one thing, but now he is shock torturing a dog because it isnβt staying perfectly in frame during his stream?
This is straight up illegal, especially in the state heβs living in.
Mocking AI and its usage/fanatics is good and right, actually
Making jokes about the "hard R" is thinly veiled excuse to reference racist jokes, slurs, and sentiments in an 'acceptable way'
This is not a difficult or subtle difference, it's actually quite blatant and clear
Don't get it twisted
If itβs allocated in the main function, I leave it to the OS to clean up. Everywhere else I donβt trust myself to remember that I donβt reuse the function later and forget that it doesnβt clean up after itself.
"People smarter than you already figured it all out" is the stupid people's way to tell other stupid people to stay stupid, ignorant, and uncurious, because they need to justify their stupidity somehow.
The question is not WHO (smart, not smart) made it this way. But WHY.
I think I unlocked a new rabbit hole this morning...

The things the human body can do, it's mind blowing.
Freelance illustration gigs drying up. Ad agencies using Midjourney instead of hiring human artists. Costume design turned over to AI wholesale. Good work vanishing.
These are the stories of working visual artists, who describe losing jobs, wages, and hope as their clients and bosses embrace AI.
By the way, the little learnings and cool moments from someone whos been doing this for as long as you have and is getting back into it now, those would be pretty neat to share π

enik-engine editor
I spent the last few years building enik-engine, a lightweight C++ game engine with a custom editor, hot-reload scripting, physics, animation, prefabs, and more. Fast, small, and built for experimentation. Hereβs a deep dive into how it works and the lessons I learned:

Do it. I'll always pick to be in a more fulfilling job even if it is unstable, rather than being unhappy in a job I can hardly lose. I'm in the former situation right now working in a startup, and I don't regret a thing, even if there's always the looming risk of us going under.
