AWS Deep Dives - Amazon SNS (Simple Notification Service) Amazon SNS (Simple Notification Service) is a fully managed publish-subscribe (pub/sub) messaging service that enables fan-out communication between applications and directly to end users.

I created a deep dive into Amazon SNS (Simple Notification Service) and sample app for handling both application-to-application (notifying another AWS/https service) and application-to-person (SMS, email, etc) messaging. blog.localstack.cloud/aws-deep-div...

After mentioning four dead US servicemen Trump starts talking about his ballroom.

In a competitive field, this may be one of the most offensive things he has ever done.

"They're all that's left." Given the right-wing tilt of the billionaire takeover of the media this is a, perhaps unintentional, pun.

It's Official: the Cybertruck is More Explosive than the Ford Pinto - FuelArc News We now have a full year of data for the Cybertruck, and a strange preponderance of headlines about Cybertrucks exploding into flames, including several fatalities. That’s more than enough data to comp...

The Ford Pinto had a death rate of 85 people for 10 million cars sold. The Cybertruck hasn't sold 10 million, but the fatality rate so far maths out to 1,452 people killed per 10 million sold.

The Cybertruck may be the deadliest road car, for the occupants, ever sold.

The Dow showing 50k+ on Feb 11 and declining since.

A slightly hilarious aspect of Pam Bondi's now infamous Dow 50k quote is that Feb 11, the date of her testimony, is literally the last time that the Dow was at 50k.

New GDP data falls far short, shows 2025 ended with weak economic growth In the first year of Trump’s second term, economic growth fell to a nine-year low, and domestic job growth fell to a 16-year low. It’s worth asking why.

Feed algorithms are widely suspected to influence political attitudes. However, previous evidence from switching off the algorithm on Meta platforms found no political effects'. Here we present results from a 2023 field experiment on Elon Musk's platform X shedding light on this puzzle. We assigned active US-based users randomly to either an algorithmic or a chronological feed for 7 weeks, measuring political attitudes and online behaviour. Switching from a chronological to an algorithmic feed increased engagement and shifted political opinion towards more conservative positions, particularly regarding policy priorities, perceptions of criminal investigations into Donald Trump and views on the war in Ukraine. In contrast, switching from the algorithmic to the chronological feed had no comparable effects.
Neither switching the algorithm on nor switching it off significantly affected affective polarization or self-reported partisanship. To investigate the mechanism, we analysed users' feed content and behaviour. We found that the algorithm promotes conservative content and demotes posts by traditional media. Exposure to algorithmic content leads users to follow conservative political activist accounts, which they continue to follow even after switching off the algorithm, helping explain the asymmetry in effects. These results suggest that initial exposure to X's algorithm has persistent effects on users' current political attitudes and account-following behaviour, even in the absence of a detectable effect on partisanship.

A new paper shows that less than 2 months of exposure to Twitter’s algorithmic feed significantly shifts people’s political views to the right.

Moving from chronological feed to the algorithmic feed also increases engagement.

This is one of the most concerning papers I’ve read in awhile.

JS-heavy approaches are not compatible with long-term performance goals I’m SΓ©rgio, and I work with Web frontend code. Sometimes I write about it here.

"The important thing to note is that a JS-heavy approach will most likely not be a good starting point; in fact, it will probably prove to be a performance minefield that you will need to keep revisiting, risking a detonation with every new commit." sgom.es/posts/2026-0...

There are reports that ICE was at South Station in Boston, taking photos of everyone coming off the trains.

Photos. Of everyone.

When we get rid of this administration, we must also insist on destroying whatever sinister database these fucks are feeding.
