Vancouver Car Free Days cancelled for 2026
A popular annual festival that saw Vancouver streets closed to traffic and opened to vendors, performers and crowds of pedestrians has been called off for 2026.
"Increasingly, the landscape for large-scale events, particularly community events, has been changing."
Ken Sim and ABC found $1 million for a sign and $2 million for fireworks after pushing through a brutal austerity Budget.

Vancouver council paves way for new school in Olympic Village
Vancouver city council voted Thursday night in favour of a move that will allow for an elementary school to be built in Olympic Village.
Olympic Village is finally getting its school.
It should not take decades to break ground on any promised amenities let alone a neighbourhood school.
No more delays. We need massive reinvestments in social infrastructure in neighbourhoods across Vancouver.
