This is so much better than ROT-13 that seemed to solve the spaces and quotes thing but made the pipes and braces issues worse!

What in the storing passwords in plaintext or reversible encryption and pasting them unquoted into shell scripts is going on here? And can I still have backticks?

Out of context, this read somewhat differently.

Ah yes. Will you be visiting the DLC, too?

It’s doing so much low-level retail therapy at the moment. For some reason that I’d rather not think about.

Agreed, this sounds odd. Would it mean that once you reach the top of the list you get offered an appointment at the next available GIC, even if it's at the opposite end of the country? And if not, isn't it just the existing waitlists weaved together for no discernible benefit?

and you can grep for "ipsum" to make sure you haven't accidentally left any of it in.

And for concept art? That's worse, that's the part that should be ALL art! It should be defining the vision and if you start with genAI, then... I'm lost for words.

(UK) It's truly confounding how we've got to the state where excluding all trans women from an organisation for women - by policy - isn't seen as a clear case of direct discrimination on the basis of "gender reassignment" under the Equality Act 2010.

I managed to write two 5-6 line functions that compile to the assembly 'mov rax, rdi; ret' today, so I declared them 'inline' and they practically don't exists post-compile.

Wait, the lizard bite does not pierce the ear, surely? Were boys allowed clip-on earrings? (Yes, I was mostly well-behaved but also an incipient rule-lawyer while at school.)

No post has ever made me want to be at a conference that I am not at more than this one.

Look, it was like that when I fount it! We are on a _wide_ range of C++ versions and some of them are less than a decade old. This is very compatible (wrong) code!

```
enum { DATA_LENGTH = 48 };
const std::string testData('0', DATA_LENGTH);
```

"Correctly" generated a test string of 48 '0' characters (and no warnings!), but when I tried to update the code to increase the length to 56 I did not get the effect I intended.

C-beams. Possibly even C++-beams.

CppCon, day one, opening plenary and everyone's been able to mark "Compiler Explorer referred to as 'Godbolt'" off on their bingo cards already. #CppCon Tagging in the official compiler explorer account: @matt.godbolt.org , and Matt: @compiler-explorer.com .

I went for a walk without my phone.
Just me and my thoughts, all alone.
Next time, I take the phone.

One thing I'm quite excited about my next international trip is being able to see if I have any BlueSky DMs!

I honestly assumed that the phrase "vibe-coding" was derogatory, but now I'm not so sure.

I feel that mocks have some good uses, but we have 100% been bitten by "we mock this call to respond with the response we expect when we make the call with the parameters we believe are correct" only for the real service to reject our call and we should have discovered this much earlier.

ACCU in Bristol is further North, as is C++ on Sea which is on our South coast!

Why is it called CppNorth if it's not far from the most far South you can be in Canada?

Weather-wise, if there was a year to make this choice, this year was definitely the one.
