Today I want to talk about Jess’ Rule and Martha’s Rule, two new initiatives across NHS England that I think are really important and you should know about.
Tl;dr: if your symptoms are not improving or getting worse, at home or in hospital, you have the right and Drs the responsibility to review.

there are alternatives to sugar water and I am sure everyone will let you know about them in the comment section but that’s something I always reliably have to hand

(And safer for the bee)

And if necessary move it to a safe space near some bee friendly flowers. they won’t hurt you if you pick it up bare handed but I generally offer them a bit of cardboard to crawl onto because I find that easier

it’s the time of year when the queens are out and about and sometimes get overtired and need a lil rest! If you see one on the ground let it be, but if it’s still there after half an hour or so, you can offer some sugar water- 2 parts sugar to one part water- like so, so it doesn’t drown

06.03.2026 10:55 πŸ‘ 45 πŸ” 1 πŸ’¬ 2 πŸ“Œ 0

yeah I’m all out unfortunately

So safely deposited outside near some flowers and with some sugar water in case it needs a lil refreshment after all the excitement

We’ve got windows open for the new plaster to dry out so I assume it got inside accidentally and then got tired

genuinely I was sitting on the sofa and she’d been running around the house and came and sat next to me and started doing a β€œlook look look” nudge so I looked and there was this fat lil bebe sitting next to me

I took a nap earlier which means I’m up late, and all three of the dogs have politely informed me that it’s been SO fun hanging out, really, but they’ve gotta bail because they’ve got work in the morning.

If you're doomscrolling, guess what? So far there are 51 kākāpō chicks hatched and thriving this season, the same number of birds as we had in TOTAL in the 90s! Only one chick has died and there are still fertile eggs waiting to hatch!
