A guy who is a very good player but not an elite scorer dropping 83 certainly raises some questions.

Interesting to see the personal stories underlying our quantitative findings.

Figurines of Brady Bunch and Partridge Family fighting each other
I have created a diorama of the Partridge family attacking the Brady Bunch family. My life is very boring.
Solid bark!
This is a huge factor in why our government is unresponsive to the public. If you want some evidence, check out my book (with Morgan, Kelly and Enns) π:

Quote card with "policy brief" small header and quote "Increasing political participation among disengaged, disadvantaged people requires a sustained effort across multiple election cycles to close the distance between professional politics and everyday people." underneath quote is an image of Daniel Laurison, the author of the brief, with his name and institution, Swarthmore College, to the right. The Scholars Strategy Network logo appears on the bottom right of the card. The background has a darkened photo of voting booths.
In this brief, @daniellaurison.bsky.social (@swarthmorecollege.bsky.social) writes that engaging low-income voters requires politicians and campaigns to invest in long-term connections, representative hiring, and making politics relevant to everyday life.

Why doesnβt one of our intrepid beltway journalists ask Trump if he was lying in June or heβs lying now?
The disaster that was Ted Carter's presidency at Ohio State is a complete self-own that reflects the dangers of what can happen when conservative ideologues start running a university. Carter has only a Bachelor's degree & was always grossly unqualified to even be thinking of leading an R1. 1/
If you asked the American public are you willing to pay $5 a gallon for gas to take out Iranβs nuclear capabilities (which we just took out in June π€) it would be 90-10 against.
This is not trueβdriverβs licenses arenβt acceptable under the SAVE Act without additional proof of citizenship. The fact that they keep doing this sleight of hand should make clear that the SAVE Act is not something that βevery American getsβ
USNWR and other ranking entities must begin to consider academic freedom in their rankings. Any university that does not allow the history of racism, for instance, to be taught is just not very good.

California has many problems, and I love my job because I get to help train smart, passionate young people to address those problems.
But in the meantime, California is still pretty great.
I think itβs just objectively true that Trump has been a complete disaster for the US along many dimensions.
What is amazing is that some people on the right have been so brainwashed by right wing media they think heβs doing a great job. I just simply donβt get it.
Absolute lunatics
Just an astounding amount of reckless damage to historical scholarship thanks to DOGE's reliance on ChatGPT.

This makes no sense and it is disgraceful and incomprehensible that this is the president of the United States, with lethal force at his disposal, communicating in wartime.
Itβs hackneyed now but it should never be: donβt normalize this.
I would prefer that to switching.
Abolish DST!
Wow. Maybe thereβs a reason they are providing you with info our intelligence services donβt?

Just grabbed this on vinyl. Putting it next to my Lara Trump vinyl on the shelf.
We can throw another $500,000,000,000 at the Pentagon this year and spend $1,000,000,000/day on a wholly useless war, but we can't afford to hire doctors and nurses to take care of our veterans? The United States is such an irresponsible, messed up country right now.
That is great! Don was the best.
Congratulations!
Glad to see our Secretary of State is focused on this important issue at this time.

Me, dumb and politically correct: Firing on unarmed ships or double-tap military strikes on schools are bad things.
Hard agree. And also if they donβt want to develop the skill of being a good writer then thatβs on them. Maybe things will change but the gap between AI and good human writing remains enormous.

Having recently moved back to CA I am struck by variation in regional communication styles. I am from the Northeast where we value directness and honesty. Very different elsewhere.
Academia draws people from all over the US and these differing styles are underappreciated as a source of conflict.
