Same. My iron has had members since before the last price hike and mine is going from $99 to $132

They aren't though. If you were paying yearly subs (the most loyal) you got hit with a price increase. Only people who were paying on a month-to-month and hadn't cancelled at any point got a grandfathered rate.

WoW does not scratch the itch for me that OSRS does. I always end up bouncing off it just due to the progression treadmill at endgame. Classic+ will probably lure me back in but I just can't get into retail any more despite being really interested in the lore.

I do feel like I'm approaching the breaking point. We're being squeezed for everything purely to extract just a little more profit and I'm not really sure where my tipping point is but I'm close. I don't want to leave the game I've played since I was a kid but god do they make it hard to stay...

OSRS just had its best year ever. RS3 just made the ballsiest move they have made in ages by removing treasure hunter. They also cancelled a finished pride event, implemented AI chatbots as "customer support", and then jacked up sub prices again. I'm not saying I'm definitely quitting but

Over the last few years, it has been made abundantly clear that we are going to be squeezed as hard as possible as players of addictive games like OSRS and RS3 are. They believe they have a captive audience because there is no true competition and nobody can stop them.

I love Old School RuneScape. It's legitimately my favorite game ever made. I adore the world, the quests, the stories, just the game in general. I think the dev team is legitimately one of the greatest in all of video games. I have come to despise Jagex as a company though.

That second tier doesn't even have to be unlimited because I know some people would prob abuse it. Maybe 5 concurrents? Idk. It's exceedingly rare for people to do more than like 3 or 4 concurrents right now.

I feel like they'd make more money than the current model just because I think they'd gain more add-on buyers than people who currently pay for multiple memberships because it lowers the barrier to entry just enough. And people who already play multiples get kind of a break.

Feel like it should be $15 a month and it applies to all characters on a jagex account and you get 1 concurrent login.

For $10/month extra you get an extra concurrent login (so two on the same game or one on each game, whatever)

For $20/month extra you get unlimited concurrent logins.

I ended up buying one finally because there's been so much talk about the price increasing

yearly subscription has increase something like 70% in 3 years. There's no defense for that.

If you want to add UIM, HCIM, HCGIM to the RS distinct game modes it looks even worse.

In RuneScape if you want to play each of the distinct game modes (main, iron, GIM) that's $45 a month.

in WoW if you want to play each of the distinct game modes (retail, classic anniversary, classic era, season of discovery) that's $15 a month.

Still my favorite battle system in an RPG. The timed hits (and defense) was much more engaging than typical turn based stuff but without being too active like an action RPG. Also just so many cool original characters and places. Amazing game.
