MN. Red area of a blue state. Here to learn and share. Boring now, but former US Marine, terrain park designer, riverboat pilot, a bunch of other weird stuff.

Whatever part of the ship hits them, sets them off. Which is different bc it means the likelihood of a given part of the ship hitting the mine is what matters. Seems unlikely that the first part of the ship to encounter a mine is that part. Meaning I question whether it was a mine.

Do mines usually hit the far rear of a ship?

I'd pay for this.

I want you to imagine like 3 Somalias where Iran is now, playing the big spoon to the Hormuz, neighboring the Taliban, and destabilizing Iraq and possibly Turkey. With lots of Shahed factories that make most of their neighbors' economies... less viable.

We let him get away with Covfefe ten freaking years ago and now they're going full covfefe on shit like Unconditional Surrender in a real MF'ing war.

Their largest long range missile factory was destroyed in the 12 Day War and was back to production in three months. So... not looking good.

We can't know and it's impossible to prove a negative. What I'm saying there is just, if we looked at a bunch of other years, the military is buying fancy food specifically for the troops that time of year.

This post isn't about Dell or Wired. I'm a subscriber and Dell is good. This thing is getting Traction though.

Ok y'all the Navy's birthday is in October and the Marine Corps' is in November and that's actually a shockingly small amount of lobster considering the size of the constituency for those two events, and yes a few times a year the military gives service members a nice meal.

Raises the question, has the US assessed that they can't move the parked seaborne air defenses without critically endangering vital infrastructure?

Like there's a reason Han Solo didn't have a stable, good-paying job.

Because the worst case scenario here is we have a giant Yemen/Somalia/Sudan type thing.

Except along Hormuz.

With tons of drones.

And some highly enriched uranium.

Potentially able to destabilize Iraq.

And neighboring Afghanistan.

Right. The question isn't, "Can the Regime outlast Israel/US (and to a lesser extent Gulf countries') willingness to continue?"

It's, "Can the Regime keep control over enough force long enough to make their exit a murder-suicide that takes out Iran's ability to survive as a functioning country?"

Because when ☝️ is what you have to stop, a No Man's Land is the only way to do it using violence.

This was a thing in parts of Afghanistan, where the misogyny was so extreme that women were untouchable.

Oh man don't get me started on threshing.

My community still celebrates the thrashing machine. No seriously like ten thousand people, maybe tens, show up.

Threshing demonstrations all weekend with stream, kerosene, and gasoline powered tractors.

the gaza war is still going 2.5 years later and that’s Israel saturation-bombing a basically defenseless territory from 40 feet away. the assumptions Americans made about this were insane

The insane thing about this is that "best case scenario" here is he's so excited to move onto a war with Cuba that he's easier to talk into just throwing a spear into the Persian Gulf, declaring victory, and going home. Which is a very bad best case scenario.
