The GEN was at the @fifdh.bsky.social Impact Days for a roundtable discussions with filmmakers working on environmental films and exchanging knowledge.

Caroline Dommen of Human Rights Econoimcs highlights the value of a human rights-based approach to EIAs. By starting with those most vulnerable, it helps identify impacts often overlooked in economic analysis such as ecosystems, culture & traditions.
Sharing experiences from #India, Yukti Choudhary highlights various challenges faced when doing impact assessments, especially with regards to how EIA processes primarily prioritize ecological indicators overlooking social and cultural dimensions such as traditional knowledge.
Highlighting the great appetite for ESHIAs following her #UNGA80 report on impact assessments, she recommends that in the face of challenges of corporate capture and checking-the-box approaches, there is a need to regulate ESHIAs.
