No, we are a separate app.
Hi et bonjour! We are a standalone companion app for Bluesky or any atproto app you are using.
The current plan is to remain a separate app. This protects your security--our app is built for end-to-end encryption, and messages are strongly authenticated to your handle.
Germ for atproto has been live for 3 weeks!
Weβre keeping π on your comments as we prioritize next features. But first up has been making sure all of you can log in.
Weβre working hard to clean up logging in with atproto. Weβll keep you posted on our progress.
Got questions? Weβre right here. π±
An orange germie parachutes onto a cartoon globe against a starry night sky, with the caption "Drop in. Germ DM for AT Protocol is live."
Drop into a DM.
Your future friends are waiting.
Find us here, today at 1 PST.

One day, we'll have every feature we need to be with our community.
Until then... on Tuesdays at 1pm PST we link up in our Discord. What's on your mind?
we're working toward it, but it's not first on our list. you can sign up for one update only here!
www.germnetwork.com/android-wait...
literally just tap the button
working on it super hard!
we're doing improvements in the backend rn so no features in the next couple releases. but with strong auth to your bluesky handle hopefully easing the friction of connecting right away!
we love that for you π€
A pink graphic showing two Germ cards for atproto with the copy, "E2EE DMs. Now on atproto."
Germ encrypts your messages all the way from one *end*, your phone, to the other *end,* your friendβs.
Thatβs end-to-end encryption. So no one can listen except the person youβre talking to.
oui, sera possible! it's not coming super soon but we look forward to building large groups with channels, and voice and video calls π
You opened the app to feel connected. So connect.
Drop into a Germ DM now. π±π»
what's a DM without a notification??
btw, you can set notifications on germ by the user you're talking to, and also by the card you shared π§
Our AC protocol is built for strongly authenticated identity integrations.
Another post from our cofounder Mark explains how Germ sends E2EE messages between you and your friendβs atproto handles. π€π
π
very cool points! no promises here, but we are definitely built for an interoperable future...
merci beaucoup!
On Germ DM, youβre chatting with your atproto handle using the strongest authentication in the Atmosphere. π€ π
To understand how, start with our Autonomous Communicator Protocolβwhich explains how Germ delivers E2EE messages without an underlying namespace.

Everyone: I donβt want a whole new platform. I just need one safe place to talk.
Germ DM: Say less π
When you see someone's germ button, just tap.
Our App Clip takes it from there. Straight to your E2EE DM.
this is so cute and slimey! be careful you're gonna get slimed! π¦
Unfortunately we don't support multiple handles yet, but it's on the roadmap. Is that something you're interested in?
We do let you manage multiple identity cards by design, but right now just one can be linked to an atproto handle.
yes that's what i was referring to, apologies for any confusion. and yes, for now.
Hit us up for support getting your Germ Friends feed set up!
thanks for checking in! our underlying protocol is open-source and we're built on the open source standard Messaging Layer Security. we're working toward an audit.
check out our protocol documentation and github link here

For Discord Tuesday, letβs help you get your Germ Friends feed set up.
Find us there today and every Tuesday at 1pm PST.
yes of course! we support all handles and pds's, but are just available on iOS right now.
get set up by downloading Germ DM from the App Store and selecting "Create with ATProto" at signup, or just click someone's Germ DM button on their profile and open our app clip
apps.apple.com/us/app/germ-...
You set up Germ.
You remixed the feed.
Now send the message. βοΈποΈπ£οΈ
Sorry about this! We're working hard to clean up login, but so far folks have fixed successfully by:
- making sure you're in newest app
- force quit both
- try again, maybe a few times
Your migration shouldn't matter. You can also send us logs in Dashboard > App Logging > Send. Include your @!
