Yes, but i tend to agree. But there wasn’t insane amounts of YouTube vids or shorts in the 90s pushing you to go for last pack magic or the specific secret rare art pulls or whatever.

If you like the tcg that’s fine. But there’s something so wrong with the way its fan media is.

Every single video or short I see is focused on “good pulls” and talking about gengar and Charizard.

I can’t explain it but it feels like gambling marketed towards kids right now.

TBH I think the biggest impact would be chinese or indian releases because of population. Most of europe has always had pokemon despite not getting localization. I imagine the new mexican spanish language will also be huge.

I think it's actually more likely just shilling. He has repeatedly said "each new Pokemon game is my favorite when it comes out".

Also to be clear, if your favorite games are SWSH or BDSP or SV, games that I think are not that good, that's valid. It's all subjective.

SWSH being very popular? Look at the switches sales! It sold more than even the DS & gameboy. Which are where the other most popular games are in the sales chart.

I always feel like you cannot use the sales data of a series as popular as Pokemon for anything meaningful other than marketing+console popularity.

Like Emerald and BW2 are revered but sold poorly? Third versions on consoles that had successors already released.

I truly hate every time Joe Merrick shares Pokemon sales data and I cannot put my finger on it.
