Today marks the 3 year anniversary of Prismic's Avatar Search on #VRChat! A lot happened for @vrchat.com over the past year that's helped in developing out the world further (binary data loading, persistence, creator economy, avatar marketplace), and hoping 2026 continues the trend!
Back in early February 2025, Prismic's Avatar Search passed 100 million visits. Today, just over 10 months later, it's passed 200 million. Averaging 10 million visits a month is insane. I'm glad it's become such a helpful and integral part of the VRChat experience for so many!
Only using "player count over some span of time" to determine the majority of the world discovery categories feels like the biggest limitation. A simple like/dislike or rating system would at least help filter out the clickbait, and doesn't have to be the end-all be-all consideration for sorting.

Wanderer blew me away back in 2022, surpassing Alyx as my favorite story driven VR experience. It lacked Alyx's polish, but now that Wanderer's remake has finally made it to Steam, I'm hopeful it'll surpass it entirely. I want more games like this.

Prismic's Avatar Search now has Style and Content filters! Select up to two styles to only show results that match. Deselect any content warnings to hide results that have those flags on them. Now with unique icons for each individual filter! #vrchat
Prismic's Avatar Search has received a fairly substantial update today! The database is smaller and no longer requires a processing step before searching, you can now search by tags, the pedestals have been reorganized and now display tags/styles/warnings/updated date, and more!

While these definitely don't represent the majority of use cases, it would certainly open up more potential for large gathering type events using VRC as a platform. Some of the above could even be done with 3rd party solutions if we had better/faster ways to externally network data via udon.
Alternatively a way to impostorize (or even just positionally represent) non-friends/non-hosts in an instance to feel large crowd presence without having to load everyone's avatars/voice/tracking data would allow for a higher user cap, if the limit truly is on the client.
Having a way for a small subset of hosts to be "broadcast" over multiple instances (having their physical state/voice sent to a collection of instances while only receiving from a single instance) would be one possible solution. Akin to Zoom Webinars.

Added visual bone overlay to Prismic's Avatar Search alongside the Avatar Shaders to help with debugging the default rig. The green holospheres represent head/hand tracking points.

I've heard one other report of it now, but in my own testing and those I've asked I've not experienced any issues. Could you describe what you're seeing that isn't working?
The 100 million visit update for Prismic's Avatar Search is out! Featuring avatar overlay shaders for testing, markers, and achievements! There's also a Supporter Board now for Creator Economy, but don't worry: it's entirely optional, and search will always be free! #VRChat

That's @digitherobot.bsky.social for me. I don't have much variety in bases, but I love being able to ask for stuff like MMD visemes or making a Halloween outfit, and she makes it happen far beyond my own capacity. I don't have FT (yet), but she's already got that covered if I do. So it is a thing!
1 year 9 months 29 days after release, Prismic's Avatar Search is now the #1 most visited community world in all of #VRChat, surpassed only by VRChat Home. That's pretty cool ๐
