I'm here for a conference on Malaria prevention campaigns, using bed nets and seasonal malaria chemoprevention.
These are widely considered as the most impactful interventions in health today and I'm proud that we are working in this field. www.givewell.org/charities/to...

"Don't fall into the anti-AI hype" by @antirez.bsky.social
I'm in general agreement with that article, the positivity but also the worries about jobs.

Trumpβs attack on DEI may hurt college men, particularly White men
The Trump administrationβs ban on diversity, equity and inclusion also targets gender. The ban may impact gender balancing practices that often benefit college men.
Ending DEI practices in college admissions will expose an uncomfortable truth. Women now outperform men academically.
If universities stop trying to gender balance incoming classes but instead admit based on merit, theyβll reject men at higher rates than they do today.

And since Iβm using that for a task that I do think can avoid hundreds of hours of admin work for health workers, itβs hard to argue against any of this.
Itβs a bit mind boggling. Feeling like Iβm at major speed increase in my career, a bit like when Firebug appeared.

Gave a try to AI agents (devin and chatgpt codex) making pull requests to your repository based on chat commands and I must say that the productivity of that workflow is super high.

Did I buy a domain name? You have no proof.
Hey, at least, it means that I keep dreaming of new projects π
To compensate, I turned auto renew off on 4 others, so, all in all, it's a win π€·

That said, I think the book is really worth a read, it's enlightning to read about the raw thoughts of Zuckerberg as his power grew.

Careless People by Sarah Wynn-Williams review β Zuckerberg and me
An eye-opening insider account of Facebook alleges a bizarre office culture and worrying political overreach
I'm currently reading Careless People by Sarah Wynn-Williams about Facebook and how it grew as a political force, and I'm a little depressed at how amoral people seem to have an edge in conquering power.

Kurt Vonnegut tells his wife he's going out to buy an envelope:
"Oh, she says, well, you're not a poor man.
You know, why don't you go online and buy a hundred envelopes and put them in the closet?
And so I pretend not to hear her. And go out to get an envelope because I'm going to have a hell of a good time in the process of buying one envelope.
I meet a lot of people. And see some great looking babies. And a fire engine goes by.
And I give them the thumbs up. And I'll ask a woman what kind of dog that is. And, and I don't know. The moral of the story is β we're here on Earth to fart around
And, of course, the computers will do us out of that. And what the computer people don't realize, or they don't care, is we're dancing animals. You know, we love to move around.
And it's like we're not supposed to dance at all anymore."

None of my old posts from Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn or Instagram appear in their sources, likely because these platforms are closed and block data-gathering bots. In contrast, my blog, along with our companyβs and projectsβ websites, are heavily referenced.

DaisyDisk, the most popular disk space analyzer
Get a visual breakdown of your disk space in form of an interactive map, reveal the biggest space wasters, and remove them with a simple drag and drop.
Shout out to DaisyDisk daisydiskapp.com an awesome little app to find what's taking space on your Mac.
Well worth the 10$
I was able to reclaim 20% of my hard drive in 5 minutes.
I'm sure there are cheaper solutions, but I've been using this for year, and it's always a delight.
