We have an economic problem masquerading as a political one. Billionaires can purchase politicians to do their bidding and that bidding is to repeal any and all rights that impede on their profits.
β'I wonβt accept this victory tonight without calling out politicians and divisive figures who constantly scapegoat and blame our communities for all the problems in society,' [Spencer] said.'My Muslim friends and neighbors are just like me: human.'β

Point your finger at the bad guy, not the brown guy.
It's both the path to both moral and electoral victory.
UK Greens have been running ON values, hammering argument "if you want to know who took your money, it's the people with all the money," & calling out scapegoating.

JD Vance gets loudly booed at the Olympics.
Solidarity, particularly across race and class, is Kryptonite for authoritarian regimes. They can only thrive when their us v. them framing is adopted by society at large, and they join as active or passive collaborators with the regime. So the only response they have is to raise the cost of unity
The past few days have confirmed for me something Iβve long believed: the American political system is terminally fucked, but the American people are not.
Most Americans want to live in a democracy in which everyone has a decent lifeβthe fascists in this regime represent a dying minority.
We must name things as they are: MAGA Murder Regime.
I hope there's a way to fill the Senate chambers with large images of the dozens of people murdered and abducted by this regime. Force Senate Republicans to look at the faces while they hand more money for murder.
βTerrible things are happening outside. At any time of night and day, poor helpless people are being dragged out of their homes...Families are torn apart; men, women and children are separated. Children come home from school to find that their parents have disappeared."-Anne Frank, 1943
Abolishing ICE is the starting point. That plus trial for them and the regime that ordered these killings, assaults and abductions is the correct position.
Brave campaigners in the Philippines helped bring about the end of Rodrigo Duterte's rein of terror by having him arrested under an ICC warrant March 7, 2025, charged with "crimes against humanity."
You cannot claim to be a Democrat and vote to finance fascism. Any notion this will shore up your law enforcement bonafides will come crashing down as Americans see that the criminals are ICE and you just upped their weapons stash.
I wish Democrats would start just speaking the truth:
βICE is killing American citizens in public for exercising their freedom of speech because Donald Trump wants to be a king.
This isnβt about immigrationβTrump wants to make it illegal to oppose him, and to stay in power until he dies.β
If MN can make being outside acting together shift from obligation for some activists to FOMO for people of common decency in the freezing cold, think all we can do in more hospitable weather.
Minnesota shifting narrative from "rabble rousing protesters" vs "law enforcement" to "people of conscience" vs "evil regime." This is essential to defeating authoritarianism - exposing who, what & why they are by demonstrating who, what & why we are.
And MAGA knows it.

The gun that these modern day Goebbels are trying to spin into self defense lie? Wouldn't you know it's the make and model mass purchased for MAGA's murder militia:

For those absolutely awed by Minnesota, this is the site organizers set up to support all of the efforts from mutual aid to direct resistance:

The Star Tribune reports that federal agents "attempted to order local police from the scene" where a man was shot and killed by feds this morning, but Minneapolis Police Chief Brian OβHara refused and "instructed his officers to preserve the scene."
We are not the first people, or the first country, to suffer under a tyrannical government that does not respect our lives, or our rights.
There is a method for how to effectively resist, and eventually topple, such a regime. We can learn from others who came before us.
This is my favorite guide.
I am watching what is happening in Minneapolis on Ali Velshi and one of the ICE officers (off camera) literally says, βItβs like Call of Duty. Pretty cool huh?β as they shoot whatever it is they are shooting. Agents walking around, guns unholstered for no reason. This is insanity
You rise to the level of your training and practice, not to the level of your imagined self.
So it's extremely important to get skilled up and to practice. That's what all of the people getting trained in ICE Watch are doing.
π¨"We wonder why people in the 1930s were quiet, we need to show we weren't quiet. History is gonna look back at all the people that didn't show upβtheir grandkids are gonna ask what were they doing! It's like -10 degrees and we're here!" -Minneapolis ICE protester. LIVE NOWβ¬οΈ
All 2025, based on constant focus groups & surveys on activation, we found prevailing assumption that dominant motivation for opposing regime is economic pain didn't hold. The argument for action, antidote to fear and concerns of efficacy, that most motivates is moral.
Alex Pretti, the man killed by federal agents today in Minneapolis, appears to have been a registered nurse, an athlete, a son and a brother, with ties to Colorado and Wisconsin.
Here is a photo he used for several accounts.
Alex Pretti was a colleague at the VA. We hired him to recruit for our trial. He became an ICU nurse- I lover working with him. He was a good kind person who lived to help and these fuckers executed him.
White. Hot. Rage.
Why Minnesota? It's not merely the most horrific kind of ill-luck that delivered another caught on video state mandated murder. Minnesota represents a direct assault on the white nationalist narrative & thus claim to power. π§΅
The nucleus of the repression is MN because it's "real America" and "the heartland" yet repudiates all that MAGA alleges.
The nucleus of the resistance is MN because "treat others as you wish to be treated" has genuinely been far more than a slogan for leaders there.
