I only know of one account that ever claimed to have been paid or who wanted to be paid like that, and their total—which I wouldn’t even have a way of verifying—was something like $8k total? (That’s been public for quite some time. The whole ‘Ms Terry Mete’ story.)
I saw that one. “Per arrest” is such a hilariously bad reading of the news that actually did go out.
I think the claim was $150k. Which begs the question—is that over 4 years? If so, that’s $37,500 a year. Compare that to the FBI’s annual budget for informants, which is ~$42,000,000.

I've heard Dempsey had a pretty rough trip back to California from DC. Low on funds, had to ask for gas money, got in a car accident, low on funds again. It's not 20 years in prison, but hey—it's something.
