Lightless does provide an optional chat for syncshells which is separated from the vanilla chats so we encourage that kind of chatter in there lol

Well again, i was not lying π€·ββοΈ
If you look at our commit history you can see our branching is utter GARBAGE.
We either push way too much or we push 1 thing.
I assume cake had this build locally..
I can understand it looks weird on your end though.
I just relay what i'm being told by the other devs D:
i mean ofc? Maybe it's wrong of me but i just want to make sure you know you're being heard by the team and i want to make sure your questions are answered.
I respond to a lot of people when i feel like some additional explanation or assurance is needed.
I also just enjoy chatting with people!
I aint lying at all, changes are still being made until release... The notes ain't final. If you have privacy concerns make a report to the GDPR then :kekw:
If you don't want to use Lightless then don't use it? You're not forced to and you're not required to.
Don't need you to believe me either xD
the OPEN SOURCE code of this plugin tells you exactly what is being stored on the server and what is being stored at people running the client.
This is all you need to know, and that is all the GDPR looks at to know that a plugin like this and any fork of it complies just fine..
Hence the entire "Pair responsibly" and "Syncshells were a mistake" from Floof.
But i'm a giant gooner, i like to have fun and i enjoy venue hopping. So my opinion is different and i get more joy out of expanding the Syncshell system..
Doesn't mean you should stop syncing responsibly though...
You are already being anonymized by having the server generate a UID for you.
Could also just remove that entire system and have everyone pair through Character ID, but then everyone knows your lodestone ID π€·ββοΈ
It's anonymized to the users for privacy reasons.
For ME an ADMIN and the BOT that relies on the DATABASE THAT RUNS THE ENTIRE INFRASTRUCTURE it is very distinguishable
At this point you're fishing for drama, you got your answers.
We don't hold any data that goes against the GDPR lmfao
My man, you are out of your mind xD
I have no idea what you're trying to prove at this point..
what is being saved on the server in your eyes?
The only thing we save on the main server are the UIDs, who they're paired with and the file hashes of the mods being synced so we can distribute them...
Reports are only saved if someone actually got banned with a timestamp of the date and time they got banned and the reason.
That data ain't being deleted as that's for my own logging.
That's all i log on my end.
We work with the exact same rules as mare.
That's the only ToS we have.
The new main server will be located in Finland instead of Germany as per announcement yes.. Why would i document this xD?
Again.. The server knows the UID of the reporter and the reported because it can verify this in the DB.
This is literally how mare always worked, this remains completely unchanged.
Ofc the server retains some form of data, how else would you be able to see your pairs and stuff? All that is completely server sided in a PostgreSQL database.
Your UID is linked to your discord account..
someone marked as ADMIN in the DB is able to see a UID attached to a discord, so the bot too..
The server will know the full UID, hence why it was able to recognize both Abel and me in the report.
The server will always know because it has the database..
Users will in no way be able to as there are a lot of variations.
It's the same as the chat from Gagspeak in that regard.
This is what it looks like for Lightless staff.
In this case names are shown cuz the report was made inside a Syncshell. For zone chat it would show anonymized UID ofc.
We've also decided that if the Zone chat ends up being a disaster we just disable it completely and only keep Syncshell chat.
The server does not store data, it holds it in ram, temporarily.
It's not saved. Neither can we read it unless a report is made.
To me it sounds accurate but maybe I'm wrong on my terms?
We do need to store reports so we can handle appeals though.
I'll attach a pic in follow up message.
Aside from that we don't keep any data, chatlogs are stored locally in your own cache.
Server has no need for this.
Reported messages will stay logged in a discord channel the same way we handle pedo reports
1. the last 5 message sent in chat from when the report was issued (Configurable for us)
2. Mods will be able to see in what chat it happened.
Reports provide a reason and additional context
Mods can see the UID of the reporter AND the reported user.
3. Server holds the 200 latest messages in ram. >
This is completely my fault, i'm the one spreading misinformation about a well made feature from abel
by posting early patch notes xD.
I am so sorry
Super sloppy on my end
10 minutes was discussed at first, i complained this was too long, then it was apparently changed to 2minutes.
Abel has told me it's instant on the latest testing.
I'm not so much a lead, Abel takes care of most of the code.
I just make sure everything stays ethical
i am simply just a bit too enthusiastic and hyped up which lead to me posting some patch notes of chat that needed changing
testing was done on an early dev build so it had some unfinished workings π€·ββοΈ
On production it'll be instant
You're probably also happy to hear that i am in fact an big idiot and misunderstood.
Reports are sent and received instantly π€·ββοΈ
So the patch notes were wrong due to me being a big dumb
that's fair
That's honestly very fair...
Also I try to give as clear answers as possible but i'm very limited by the limit of BSKY, i'm totally fine with answering stuff like this but i would more prefer having to do this inside the discord server or in my dms π€·ββοΈ
it works fine, it just can be slow sometimesπ€·ββοΈ
It'll really dependd on if discord is having any hiccups at the time of report.
First time hearing that 50% of the community has trust issues with Lightess.
I just want a sync service and if ppl wanna use mine they're welcome to do so :o
we deal with alts the same way as mare did before it was able to use account ids...
I don't want share this info but ppl that know know π€·ββοΈ
Just trying to keep it a bit vague, regarding this, sorry
You're free to talk about a venue though lol
because the feature works fine.. It's a free service and we tried our best to implement a moderation feature in the first place.
Once again if you don't want to use it then don't use it, the feature is disabled by default π€·ββοΈ
Data can't be falsified.
During testing it took 2 minutes for a report.
3: Yes we're also able to undo a moderator's decision if needed
4: Vanity doesn't apply in the chat feature, it uses your normal UID.
5: kinda just the ads of venues you see in PF
6: It's not possible to ban on acc id anymore, we can only ban on character. or chat only depending on the severity.
