BREAKING: Atlanta Braves designated hitter Jurickson Profar is facing a 162-game suspension after testing positive for a performance-enhancing drug for the second time, sources told Jeff Passan
Been saying for years that I wish spring training games were not broadcasted in any form nor public records kept.
This week's Star Trek Starfleet Academy wasn't bad, but instead it was incredibly boring.
Watched two plate appearances of today's game* and that's enough glorified practice for me. See you in five weeks Mariners.
*Mostly just to make sure mariners.tv worked.
I really really hate agreeing with Arte Moreno, but yeah this is mostly correct I'd say.
Though I'll quibble with the top 5 comment. I bet winning is at least 4th.
Rewatching the Félix perfecto and I forgot just how early Sims started calling it as such. He was on it by the third.

Catcher Mitch Garver and the Seattle Mariners are in agreement on a minor league deal, sources tell ESPN. Garver, 35, spent the last two seasons with the Mariners and will compete for the backup catcher job to AL MVP runner-up Cal Raleigh.
Star Trek: Into Darkness. The only time I've ever been "that guy" who was yelling things at the screen in the theater. Though thankfully there was maybe 20 people in the theater, including my friend and I.
photograph from the 80's of the wrestler Sting wearing a Gold's Gym shirt and sunglasses, leaning against a shelf in a bookstore and positively cheesing at an open copy of The Far Side Gallery 2, a collection of Far Side Cartoons.
what if i told you, through the power of forensic analysis, we are closer than ever to knowing the exact Far Side cartoon that is making Sting smile in this iconic photo. 🧵 👇

MLBPA executive director Tony Clark resigned after an internal investigation revealed he had an inappropriate relationship with his sister-in-law, who had been hired by the union in 2023, sources tell me and @DVNJr.

@AaronGleeman Pablo López has a torn elbow ligament and “surgery is very much on the table” according to Twins general manager Jeremy Zoll.
If surgery is needed, López would miss the entire season.
Woa
With the acquisition of Josh Simpson and the transfer of Logan Evans to the 60 Day IL, the #Mariners 40 man payroll remains at $161,594,500.

I didn't realize Chris Bassitt signed a 1 year, $18.5M deal with the Orioles.
Would have loved that for the Mariners. Would have been a perfect finishing move to this off-season to push Bryce Miller into depth role.
The Mariners' 2024 rotation was very good, and the 2025 rotation was indeed hurt. But I think there's a tendency to exaggerate:
1. How good in 2024
2. How hurt in 2025

News: Arizona Diamondbacks star outfielder Corbin Carroll broke the hamate bone in his right hand and is undergoing surgery today, sources tell ESPN. He will miss the World Baseball Classic and his ability to play Opening Day is now in question.
It is very rare these days where it seems like something is very underpriced and just $200 a year for having Mariners/all of MLB blackout free* is one of those. I'd probably be willing to pay $300 for that.
*stupid national games
Which I suppose is confirmed on this site:

The ESPN free trial bullshit does NOT appear to be necessary to sign up for the mlb.tv and mariners.tv bundle so long as you choose the middle option.
I just did that, and there was zero indication or mention of signing up for any kind of trial.
Discord was never something I had much use for, beyond a few software support things. One of the reasons I'm glad I never got hardcore into multi-player gaming.
Appreciate Milwaukee depriving the Astros of one of Boston's outfielders.
Whole lotta "Mariners turn now." comments.
Sorry folks, the Mariners already won the title that they have actual control over.
Normalize not placing importance on a title that just takes luck to win.
Ah man, I totally missed that Erik Dubois retired Arco Linux. I learned so much from his videos and articles over the last decade or so and Arco has been my daily driver for 6ish years. Of course it's easy to transition to pure Arch, but he did a lot for the community.
Enjoy retirement Erik.
This week's Starfleet Academy was far and away the worst episode so far, and possibly the worst Star Trek episode of the last 10 years.
Which is a damn shame, because last week was actually legit good.
Dark pattern bullshit.
MLB TV will remain $150 a season but look at this BS they’re trying to pull. You cannot “buy” MLB TV without buying ESPN Unlimited, but they give you a one month free trial, and then the hope is you forget to cancel since you don’t need ESPN to have MLB TV, only to initially purchase.
