It’s primarily so the app has a chance to redact information in the screenshot. For example, so employees can’t exfiltrate corporate data through screenshots.

Yes. Depending on your actual needs, lots of people seem to do pretty well with an entry-level MacBook Air nowadays. More RAM is always better, though. ;) YMMV, especially if you’re doing ML.
