I really am so happy I had this opportunity - despite the narrow pathing during the first half, it actually is a really nice route, and I would recommend it to anyone! Now to look ahead to next Sunday - Hampton Court Palace Halfโฆ โค๏ธ๐ช
My pacing in the second half was better than I expected, and contributed to the sub 1:50:00 time I eventually got (chip time was 1:48:11, around 3.5 minutes slower than my chip time last week at Olympic Park)โฆ
Compared to last week, a couple of things I did differently:
* I did a warm up jog from the station to the start area
* I consumed an energy gel every 7 kms
If it had not been for my starting in the last wave and losing about 5 minutes trying to weave through people (combined with some very narrow paths), this would have potentially been another PBโฆ

And it worked - this tempo session felt so much better on my feet and legs than previous ones! So now I have one more tempo session on Friday before heading to Cambridge on Sunday for the half marathon - Iโm feeling really good about things nowโฆ โค๏ธ๐ช
Just before I did this session, I went and bought another pair of carbon-plated shoes (the new ASICS Magic Speed 5s), and then decided to try them out for the session - I usually donโt do carbon plates for tempo sessions, but I thought, โwhy not?โโฆ
To be honest, I was almost dreading these, especially after the last couple of tempo sessions that I had. But then I tried something a little differentโฆ

I was quite surprised at how fresh my legs felt tonight after yesterdayโs PB half marathon effort. Nevertheless I still took this one very easy, and it felt as such - a straightforward Zone 2 runโฆ
