60 plus kgs of spuds. Iβm a Scotsman and I love potatoes β¦ nearly as much as Jane does. Should do us for three months. Thanks Kirstine and Sammy for getting them out of the ground.
A few quickfire questions with Virginia Trioli ahead of tomorrow nightβs episode of Creative Types. Available to stream from Thursday at 8:30pm on ABC iview or watch on ABC TV.
Home is where the heart is. Here amongst the trees, down where the river bends. Dylanβs just keeps growing. I reckon heβll overtake me in a couple of years.
Back home, and fish βn chips for dinner
You know what Iβm going to do with the chips.
Iβm happy to announce that Iβll be heading up to Mackay on Saturday, May 30 for Legends on the Lawn. Iβll be sharing the stage with my good mates, Jon Stevens, Birds Of Tokyo & Baby Animals. Itβs going to be great.
On sale this Thur, 9am
via Ticketmaster or www.legendsonthelawn.com.au
The monks walk their alms round along the beach every morning at dawn. They eat once a day, before noon and only what people give. For that, they chant a blessing. Iβm already so blessed.
Weβre happy to share that the Jane Barnes Band will be doing a show at the Bowral Bowling Club on Thursday 26th March. Ticket details via jimmybarnes.com/tour-dates
Weβll stick around for a signing so see you there for a fun night.
Hats donβt suit my big head but Jane insists that I wear one, even if it looks β¦ well, like this. A quiet Monday sunrise, an egret fishing, so is the fisherman. Hereβs a Thai breakfast that I love, Khao Tom Goong (prawn rice soup). Itβs in our first cookbook βWhere the River Bendsβ.
This guy picked his own outfit today. First time in jeans. I wish we could slow life down a bit so he doesnβt grow up so fast. Teddy what a stylish young fella.
A kilometre a day keeps the doctor away.
Sunrise, pool side, some traditional Thai home cooking β¦ beach side.
A swimmingly start to the day. Big veggie haul continues. Iβd do just about anything for dessert made by Ruby.
The Dahlias have gone crazier than the roses. 50+ kgs of plums this summer. Plum jam heading to city family and friends! Jane wants to make Plum and Dahlia compote tomorrow.
A huge day of Aussie rock. As usual the Perth audience were amazingβ¦ drowned us out in Working Class Man. Canβt wait for Sandstone Point in March.

An interesting dinner find in Scarborough, Perth - at the back of a beer specialist shop thereβs a taco kitchen. Carnitas with all sorts of chilli dressings and zero beer at Taco Guru & Son. Perfect on my night off.
Weβre in WA for the Jane Barnes Band show tonight at the Bunbury Entertainment Centre. Iβll be singing with Mahalia, and weβll be hanging around to sign some merch after the show. Grab your tickets and weβll see you there - jimmybarnes.com/tour-dates
Happy 40th Jackie. I love you so much and I am so proud of the man you have become. You are a caring, loving, giving, and talented human being. What more could a dad ask for?
What a great day of Aussie music in the Barossa Valley last night. We love seeing all generations out at these shows.
See you in Perth next weekend.
Iβll be driving past the house in Elizabeth where I grew up on the way to the gig at Peter Lehmann Winery tomorrow. Being in Adelaide always stirs up memories for me. Sometimes good, sometimes bad.. but mostly good these days. Hereβs me with Mum and my younger brother, Alan.
Weβre lucky to be able to get together before heading off to do what we love most. Jackie and I are off Adelaide for the Jane Barnes show tomorrow night, then Tanunda on Saturday for the next Working Class Man 40th Anniversary show. Diesel has a few shows in Tassie over the weekend.
Hereβs some roses for whoever may need them today.
Hereβs a hard and fast rock nβ roll track from my album For The Working Class Man. Iβve loved playing Paradise with the band on the 40th Anniversary Tour. Weβll see you next Saturday in Tanunda, SA for the next show.
Who would have thought that crumbs in the bed could be such a special time? Teddyβs been my helper in the garden today. Weβve got to hold on to days like these.
Juanita Tippins sings backing vocals in my band and I am so proud of her. I was delighted to be at the opening of βI Am Saltwaterβ an exquisite exhibition of artworks on Tapa bark cloth.
The exhibition is open for one more day at 12 Daniel St Botany.
Morning swim, chargrilling, and an evening with Elly-May Barnes. My heart is full.
Rob Hirst has had a massive impact on Australian culture. He was the engine driving one of the greatest live bands of all time. RIP, dear Rob. You are irreplaceable, one of a kind, and myself, my family, and all the rest of this great country will miss you so much.
The rose garden, the tomatoes and dahlias survived the stormy weather. I canβt believe the size of this flower, bigger than Janeβs face.
Back on the Riverbend after a great weekend in Tassie. Thanks to everyone who came out to see us in Hobart last night. A few of you even went home with a drum skin signed by Teddy - collectorβs items in the making. Hope you all enjoyed your weekend.
See you in Launceston tonight for the first show on the Jane Barnes Band tour. Weβve got some new merch that will be available, and will be hanging back for a signing after the show.
