It's already ridiculous enough when the press you worked on give cops free pass for insane ideas like giving them backdoors (Apple already told the world how bad it would be years ago), but it's even more ridiculous to whine when GrapheneOS responded coordinated attack from your side.

Traditional SMS/MMS/Call is not encrypted at all, the government won't even need spyware like Pegasus to get these data. it's not a solution at all. if you need protection against these attack, Google Pixel 8 or later with GrapheneOS installed or A19 iOS devices with Lockdown mode is the way to go.
But the precedent for China is for non-E2EE data only, Advanced Data Protection is still available there.
