Today's "I didn't know this existed" is the Super Famicom Bodyguard (スーパーファミコン ボディーガード), a cozy sleeping bag for your SNES with little holes for the controllers. Probably overheats like a motherfucker in summer. Well worth the $200-800 they're asking buyee.jp/mercari/item...

That reminds me, have you ever seen this SNK token? I picked it up last year on YJP. Weird logo and IDK what Concorde is. Same design on both sides. May be totally unrelated to arcade SNK 🤷‍♂️

Definitely something to add to the game medal wiki. ;)

03.03.2026 14:53 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0

Yeah, wow, no idea. My feeling is it’s not related to that SNK as the first Neogeo World didn’t open until the 90s and I don’t think they managed any game centers before that, and they definitely had their logo at that time. Not sure tho, not an SNK expert… interesting though!

It *may* be related to Taito's venture into the theme park busienss with their USA-themed "Cannonbal Park" location. The coin is kinda sorta America-ish with an Eagle (?) on one side and a wreath on the other. But there's not a lot of information about that park, certainly no pictures of its medals.

I can't find *any* information about this at all. Taito has always had the same medal with little variation for decades (old or new logo one side, Michael Kogan on the other for old coins or a Space Invader for new ones). This is off the wall and I'm incredibly intrigued...

why do so many of the endings to "No One Can Stop Mr. Domino!" consist of the dominoes killing themselves or otherwise dying miserably

Just realized I should have also sent the Super MD Fan magazines (those two with the music remix CDs) to be scanned as well… next time!

I have another very rare, very expensive scan for you: another Sega Company Profile, this time from the early 1980s, likely 1983. Link inside.

Without further ado, you can find the scans below.
As always, there is an extras zip file with the full 600 DPI TIFF scans and a JSON file with lots of metadata (the page size and material, even the paper thickness!)

I don’t get to do it every time, but my favorite place to kill time while waiting for my Shinkansen home is the Hitachino Nest Beer bar at the Yaesu side of Tokyo station. Still the best domestic beer in Japan.

I worded that wrong: the Tokyo location is still in the original space in Decks.
You’re right that Yokohama was first, supplanting Osaka ATC Galbo. *fist shake*

screen up (seen it twice), and you know everyone is jerking it before sleep. And while this is a modern, “friendly” capsule hotel that welcomes tourists, there were still plenty of Japanese businessmen sleeping off their Friday night here.

The capsule hotel I’m staying at is mixed (male/female) which kind of blows my mind. Capsules are generally men only or have a separate ladies floor because you generally get dressed outside the capsule, or you have drunk dudes who pass out bare-ass naked with the…

Some thoughts…
- the controller feels real nice to use, very hefty
- you really have to roll to get the characters to run! Feels much more precise than emulating with a keyboard (of course)
- even with the above it’s still not a great game lol
