Eventually, ChatGPT was just like: this script is from 2011, it isn't maintained anymore, and it does weird stuff. Just use something more modern.

So anyway, I swapped it all out completely for Awesomplete, a more modern script. It fixed my problems, and is much faster and nicer looking too! 4/4.

And my server WAS actually giving results for those searches, but Typeahead.js for some reason filtered them out or thought they shouldn't be shown.

I asked ChatGPT for its opinion, and it Really struggled on this one. It gave me ALL sorts of things to try and nothing worked; same result always. 3/

So, the autocomplete field for world cities. Sometimes, it just wouldn't show results if you typed something like "Paris" or "Berlin", but only would show if you gave it more like "Berlin, DE"

"B" thru "Berl" would show the results, NOT "Berli" or "Berlin", but then "Berli, D" would show again. 2/

I've finally retired Twitter Typeahead.js from @nonshy.com.

I was using this old library (from 2011!!) to drive some type-ahead search fields around the site (such as city name searches).

Sometimes, it would get results from my server but just NOT show them!

I even stumped ChatGPT on this one. 1/

Today, my payment provider was finally ready to start the integration phase so the paid supporter tier for @nonshy.com is coming very soon – possibly by end of week! 😊
