Today (March 4, 2026, 8pm CET) digital OpenReception Community Meetup. More Infos: open-reception.org/community/me...
See you there!
In a few days, we're launching the pilot phase! π₯³
Meanwhile, we've added the last essential features such as appointment cancellation for patients:

We're just cracking the last tough nuts and then we'll be ready for the pilot phase shortly.
By the way, this is what the notifications will look like that the practice staff will receive. This way, appointment requests won't be forgotten in the endless expanses of a calendar:

Only a few features left until the pilot phase. πͺ
Practices donβt have to accept every appointmentβthey should keep control over their schedules.
Thatβs why appointments can require confirmation. The practice can then accept or decline an appointment.
No community meetup today!
Next one will be March 4th, 2026. See you then.

OpenReception is not only encrypted (Privacy-by-Design). We are also making sure patients can decide what happens to their data (Privacy-by-default).
This is why we let them choose to get e-mail confirmations and updates.
They just have to tick a box:
Weβre currently getting OpenReception ready for the pilot phase, which is set to start in a few weeks. Weβre turning the prototype into a small, working product that practices can use right away.
Part of this is our onboarding assistance for practices:

The DemoDay was almost two weeks ago, but weβre keeping the momentum going. Weβre part of the @prototypefund.bsky.social SecondStage and will be putting our project on a sustainable footing over the coming months.

Panel discussion on OpenSource infrastructure
Hendrik represented us at todays @prototypefund.bsky.social DemoDay!
We have optimized this calendar for the following cases:
* Someone at the reception desk receives people (patients)β©
* The actors view their current day
* Someone at the reception desk searches for the next free appointment (booking appointments via the calendar is a planned feature)
And this is what appointments look like in the calendar.
We can see available appointments, booked appointments, and in the future also reservations (which need to be confirmed first).
Come visit us! You can get free tickets here: www.prototypefund.de/events/demo-...
Next Friday we are on the @prototypefund.bsky.social DemoDay in Berlin. π
We will be participating in a panel talk on "Invisible helpers - FOSS infrastructure for everyday life".
In between, weβre also showing off our prototype.
Everythingβs already finished. So no stress π
It's this easy to book an end-to-end encrypted appointment! π
Weβve been working towards this for months.
Weβll show in the next few days how Maxβs appointment is retrieved in the calendar. π§
And since you know what UX is, we are conducting patient side UX interviews. Let us know, if you want to participate.
We are showcasing UX flows on our profile already.
Last flows will drop there over the next few weeks.
In the coming few months we will also provide a proper documentation with screenshots on our website.
Das sind TypeScript, Sveltekit und Postgres. Kommt im Docker Container frei Haus bis Bordsteinkante.
Die Schnittstellen sind tatsΓ€chlich alle ΓΆffentlich, d.h. alle kΓΆnnen dagegen entwickeln. Unser Front-End ist auΓerdem eine Referenzimplementierung
We are featured on @heise.de before we even launched π

Now we are doing the final push to get our prototype ready for the @prototypefund.bsky.social demo day on November 28 in Berlin!
We've finished setting site settings, so clients will know where they are booking their appointment at.
OpenReception is primarily aimed at medical practices, and naturally there are many different types of appointments. That's why we rely on channels that can be individually customized.
From these channels and the available actors, the available appointments are then generated automatically.
We are showing our OpenReception Prototype at the @prototypefund.bsky.social DemoDay π₯³
Visit us! We are looking forward to meeting you!

By the way, we're thrilled that we'll also be participating in the SecondStage of @prototypefund.bsky.social year 01. π₯³
The next Christmas holidays are definitely coming! π
That's why OpenReception will manage free appointments for you. Simply enter your absence and appointments with your actors (agents) will no longer be offered during that period.
