this took...
...a significant amount of time.
so please enjoy!
thank you so much to everyone who gave me advice, tested early builds, drew me some art (gardenowl!!!), and all the open source devs who wrote the stuff this is built atop!
to tie the game together, there's a little story mode! story mode runs across five days, and you can spend your earnings with Saul on various power-ups. There's two endings -- good and bad.
plus, a tutorial to teach you how to play.
there's also in-game achievements, naturally in the form of hank's minerals.
you get them from completing certain challenges! (there are 12 in total!)
For local multiplayer, I based it on a Ni-Fi template by Fewnity (built on libwifi), and send game data between systems every other frame or so.
and yes, player 2 plays as jesse.
download link! (runs on melonDS, or various flashcarts):

I built this with a layer-cake of various homebrew libraries from 20 years of nintendo ds development!
sitting at the bottom is devKitARM and libnds. above those two I use two main libraries for graphics:
NightFoxLib (for 2d - bottom screen) & nitro-engine for 3d (top screen)!
I actually made breaking bad for the nintendo ds.
with local wireless multiplayer support.
video is out now!!! ๐

This is the most heartfelt comment I've ever received on any of my YouTube videos. This is why I keep modding games

side note: the flash website for this is bizarrely still up on nintendo's website, and even has an exclusive minigame if you open it on the Wii Internet Channel

Hello, Bluesky.
few people understand the importance of adding the green triangle on my replica Saul case
welcome. Nintendo DS cases in Europe sure are much thicker, huh? Makes putting them next to US/Japanese ones so jarring.
